i don't know if this has already been posted - i can't figure out how one could possibly spend $19.5 million dollars in 3 days at disneyland paris!!??!!??

A Saudi prince spent 15 million euros ($19.5 million) for three days of fun at Disneyland near Paris to celebrate his degree, the group that runs the theme park said Monday.

Prince Fahd al-Saud booked entire areas of the park over May 22 to 24 for his 60-odd guests. The festivities included tailor-made events involving "rare Disney characters," Euro Disney told AFP.

Special security was put in place for the prince, one of the park's top customers, it added.

The theme park attracted 16 million visitors last year but Euro Disney has not made any profits since it was set up 20 years ago.

In the six months to March, the group had a net loss of 89.1 million euros compared with a loss of 11.8 million euros in the same period last year.

:rotfl2:

Are they really still making a loss after 20 years? why continue?

I helped price up for a relative earlier this year, they were wanting to go 3 nights in Feb, with flights from Manchester it was over £2,500.

Wish they had built it in Spain, can't see me ever going to where it is and the silly prices.

He must have spent the bulk of that in paying for all his security and exclusive characters etc. I think it's crazy! But then I suppose I can't relate since I don't have tens of millions in cash knocking about :rotfl2:

me either for me it is relative cheaper to go to wdw then to disneyland

Totally agree. I looked into DLP before looking into Florida thinking it would be cheaper. Did 2 side by side 7 day quotes and DLP was way more than Florida. Added another 8 days to a Florida quote and it still (just) came out cheaper. :confused3

We all spend to our income, upto recently we thought nothing of spending £20k+ on a BMW every 2-3 years, splashed out almost £4,000 on 3 business class seats etc but the recession hit, fuel increased and I now earn half of what I did 10 years ago. Thankfully I have some investments I can fall back on which are doing well.
The more you earn the more you spend, I am sure Saudi Prince Fahd al-Saud has a few $'s left.:goodvibes

Just imagine you had paid £2,500 and found yourself there over the same 3-days as the Saudi Prince with parts of the parks section off for his party...:sad1::sad2:

Roughly worked out at £55k per person per day, presuming it was US Dollars:eek:

That Saudi Prince needs to have a word with Wayne next time:rotfl:

I have been to DLP three times, there are parts of it I love but I started to notice how neglected parts of it had become. Once I had been to WDW, I also realised how much more you get for your money. DLP needs to lower its prices to attract more visitors.

I wish I was a Saudi prince lol.

that's the part of the story that jumped out at me too - that much of a loss??? crazy!!

sure its just pocket money to the Saudi Prince:) I hope he doesn't decide to give WDW a go in November:)

I hope no part of WDW is closed in nov when we go for out first time.

I expect thus does happen from time to time when celebs n such like visit.

He's done that already

Disneyland Paris was the last resort he visited on his world tour.

Before that he hit Tokyo, Honk Hong, Anahein, and Orlando.

His Disney tour is over ... for now :)

How the park is financed along with royalties to Walt Disney Co has a lot to do with the book reported loss.
Given the continued investment in DLP and that it is the number 1 visitor attraction in Europe suggests that it is not going to close any time soon :goodvibes

Oh, I hadn't realised that this was the same thing. I know someone who went on that - what a fabulous experience to have. It would be a dream-come-true for most Disney fans.:goodvibes

That any family can spend nearly $20m in three days is just plain sad!
