Saturn Vue or Toyota Highlander?

Wow - the Friday night, Saturday morning crowd definately has some opinions! I think what I'm finding out is that I'll get more options on a Saturn for less $$$ and it truly depends on what one rolls off the line and ends up in my driveway as to whether I'll have service problems with the vehicle.

I do like all the positive comments about Saturn's customer service. That is very important too!

Just another comment about the Saturn Vue....One of my best friends was a front passenger in a Vue that was hit on that side almost head on....she's fine, bruised, nothing broke...the insurance guy told her that if she was in any other SUV she would have been really hurt or killed. He said the Saturn Vue is build so that the engine never enters the passenger/driver body of the car. It is stopped before, she would have had most of the engine on her lap.

Just something I found really interesting....

Saturns are horrible. They're cheaply made and after a few years they begin to have a lot of mechanical problems. Buy the Highlander.

A blanket statement that does not apply to us. DH bought a Saturn in 1992 and we had it for 13 years and over 150,000 miles. During that time we have only had to replace tires and oil. Little things started going on the car, like the carpet was coming up - but the engine was going to last forever!

DH replaced that last year with a 2001 Saturn coup, and I got a brand new Relay. We love our cars, they have been very reliable and our experience with several Saturn dealers has been nothing but wonderful.

Meanwhile, while we were car-shopping, we couldn't even test-drive a Toyota without filling out a survey with the salesman first, and their "showroom" was filled with people doing the same thing - no cars! Very odd.

Hope that helps dispel any rumors about Saturn!
