Anyone know about this (Bicker?) It was suggested to me after I found I out I can't get an NFL ticket through my cable company.
Gotta have my Pats.

The NFL is extremely protective of who can see their games. You can do online streaming as an additional add-on to Direct TV NFL Ticket. Maybe you could pay for that subscription without getting Direct TV, but I doubt it.

If you live in Manhattan only and in a building that does not allow Direct TV to be installed because of an agreement with another supplier, you are allowed to get an online version of NFL Ticket. That was the only reference I could find to any online streaming of games.

Sounds like you will have to visit a bar that has Direct TV and NFL Ticket. Just about every Hooters, Buffalo Wild Wings, etc. has it.

Finally you could try something like http://direct-pctv.com/. It seems like a scam to me, but for $39 maybe it is worth it to try.

In this competitive market, this is one way that service providers have to attract consumers to their: The exclusivity agreement between NFL and DirecTV is a major reason why a lot of folks switch to, and stay with, DirecTV.

I think bonoriffic's instinct about Direct-PCTV is correct. They have posted about a hundred glorified reviews of themselves around the web. Their domain registration is shielded by their service provider, so there is really no recourse if you're disappointed with what they offer. I've seen only a few messages from real people about the site, all along the lines of "all the channels I want aren't working".

Thanks! I don't know anything about the whole satellite PC thing, someone suggested it to me.
When I spoke to our cable company yesterday they said maaaaaybe they'll be offering it but won't know right before the season starts. He said they are negotiating now. They offer MLS, NBA, Hockey and Baseball, just no football. :guilty:

I checked out NFL website but they only offer game rewind, which means I could watch the game the day after. I suppose if I'm really missing my Pats I could do that but I prefer to watch live.

Yes, I am a die hard football fan!!

I'm not sure what the person at your cable company was referring to, but DirecTV's exclusive contract with NFL for Sunday Ticket is signed-sealed-and-delivered through the 2014 season. There has been discussion that Sunday Ticket would be available (from DirecTV, not NFL) via broadband Internet streaming, but only if you live in a building that they've determined cannot afford you satellite service. That broadband service will start either this year (2011) or next (2012); I'm not sure; but again it will only be available if your home physically cannot get satellite service.

Note that there is a new service NFL will be offering in 2012 (not 2011) that your cable company may offer. It isn't Sunday Ticket but rather just a channel that would show live-action cut-ins for all Sunday afternoon games, sort of like a news program covering live "news" all afternoon long. Maybe that's what the person at your cable company was referring to.

Maybe. Sure sounded like he was reading from a script. He said in our area Direct TV, DIsh (?) and Verizon all offer football tickets, but so far they don't. I was going to look into it further. I don't want to get a dish if I don't have to. We have Brighthouse for our cable company.

If you either know someone in the Patriots market or who has DirecTV and the NFL ticket you can just pull the game from them with a Slingbox. I have a couple of friends who have moved out of town and they use a Slingbox at their parents or a friends to just pull the Browns feed for free into their web browser (free after you buy the Slingbox of course). Both ends will need a decent broadband connection for this to work.

So I could get my dad to hook this up to his TV and then it can broadcast to my PC?

That's pretty much what Slingbox is for - place-shifting. Note that it works via streaming, not download, so both sides must be connected to the Internet while you're watching, because the data is never stored at your remote location.

Yep. As Bicker stated it is a stream and not a download but if your dad sets his DVR (if he has one) to record the game you can pull the DVR version of the game and can use all of the FF, RW, and Pause functions of a normal DVR'd program.

Correct, but remember that as you're doing so, he would not be able to operate his DVR. It would work like you're actually sitting in front of the television connected to that television, pressing the buttons on your father's remote control.
