if you had only the weekend to go which park would you recommend for Sat & Sun. major concern is crowds. I know they will be busier with longer waits but which parks would you consider the best bet for each day to have the lowest wait times

We went last August, and found that Hollywood Studios was good for Sunday. We were recommended to do Magic Kingdom on Saturday, and it was not too bad. The crowd calendars have Animal Kingdom busier on the weekends, and while I love Epcot, I think it gets lots of local traffic on the weekends in late afternoon thru evening.

You just never know. I agree also that locals with AP's are probably more likely to be @ Disney on weekends, but which park they choose is anyone's guess. We were there mid-week back in May, 2019 and some days certain parks were wall-to-wall people while others were not. Epcot seems to be organized better to handle larger crowds. Around the lake, those wide walkways make it easier to get around. Certain parts of AK have winding/narrow walkways which seem to get clogged with people and not the best layout for large crowds. MK isn't much better but seems those with younger children prefer MK over some of the other parks. I don't really think there is any reliable way to predict future crowds at a certain park on some future date.

If there's a festival going on, I'd probably avoid Epcot especially in the late afternoon and into the evening.

I'd add to that to avoid it entirely after noon on a weekend. You never know what may be going on in addition to the festival.

I edged my way through a nearly shoulder-to-shoulder Mexico on a FWF Saturday at about 1:30 once. Everywhere was about that crowded. I'd never seen Epcot that crowded.

Turned out it was Dapper Dans weekend, too. Great vintage costumes but insane trying to get anywhere.
