Sat 26th Virgin V016 Still not left!!!

We were due to fly home at 7:35pm last night; but ended up boarding at 9:15pm sitting on the plane for an hour & then off again - bussed to a Hotel where only one person on check in desk - some people didn't get to their room until 3am. & no dinner available at hotel.

Now being bussed back to airport (1.30pm) for a 9:30pm possible flight tonight - plane still not fixed - engineers & parts arriving at 5:30pm.

That's really poor - some not getting into your room until 3.00 am is just appalling when presumably Virgin were already making other arrangements by 10 pm. I'm sure it wasn't easy for them to arrange, especially being a Sunday evening. Not a great ending to your holiday and hopefully soon you will only remember the good bits

Thanks for all the good wishes. We did finally leave about 9:45pm; could have been about 45 mins earlier but 10 passengers were missing

Anyway ended up with 26 hr delay- wasn't too bad for us as we're all adults & as we had our last day at Aquatica we had swimming stuff with us & spent the day at the pool & got a Taxi to the airport at 5pm (we had to be there by 5:30pm).

We landed at about 10am UK time (took southerly route home to avoid Sandy) & managed to get a train at 11:02 - so home by 1pm. Our friends got the next train at 11:20 as their cases took longer than ours (we skipped off as we had to get DS back to Uni) & that broke down & they finally got home at 3pm.

DH has just filled out the compensation claims - but I think they'll use the 'unavoidable' clause to opt out of paying. Been given 12,500 airmiles each - but they don't get you far!

Glad you are home and managed to get some extra swimming in.

It always amazes me where passengers get to at the airport - they go through check in and then disappear!
