Saratoga Springs Wins an Award!

I just got my latest issue of Conde Nast Traveler. One of their features was ratings of North American spas. In the category of "Top 10 for Programs," the 5th rated resort was the Spa at Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort. Imagine how good the rating would be if they were actually open!

Actually the Spa is open and last I heard was supposed to be open through construction until at least this summer sometime. They offer a 20% discount for members and each month now have a special "Treatment of the Month" exclusive for DVC when you get 30% off instead of the typical 20%. It was all in this month's email newsletter of Member Clubhouse that arrived today!

The Spa at the resort (formerly the Disney Institute Spa) is open during construction. Since the list is just for 'resort programs' and not resorts themselves (accommodations, etc), it makes sense.

This month they are offering a seaweed body wrap and some body cream rubbed on ALL over your body afterward for 30% off the regular price--I'm going to pass on that one. I just don't want to be responsible for depleting the oceans of all that seaweed just for my body

Cruella.... Do you know which one of their services that was called? I just had one of thier brochures mailed to me, but I was going to pass on this trip, but for 30% off, that sounds like a better deal!

One other little "perk" that was relayed to me during my last stay.

Since the resort is not open, Disney will provide transportation from your resort to the Spa if you book a treatment.

I used the discount to treat myself to a birthday present of a Rose Facial,manicure and pedicure.The 20% discount was a great perk!

During my trip to WDW in Oct. 2002 at Port Orleans ( all home resorts were booked) I was advised to use the Disney Institute Spa. In my opinion it is the best Spa on Disney property including the Grand FLoridan Spa. Prior to this trip I didn't even know it existed. I had the opportunity to speak to many DVC members who stayed at OKW and were using the facility. It should be noted that you must pay a fee even if staying at a DVC resort. This may change if it is going to be part of Saratoga Springs.

Also, I was advised that if I had to take a taxi back and forth to Port Orleans they would have reimbursed me. However, I had a car and it was not a problem.
