SARATOGA SPRINGS-which veiw and building???

Another great location is the newer Grandstand section.

It has its own pool and waterplay area, is also very close to the Carriage House/restaurant area, is the first stop for pickup and dropoff to the parks (important when you're going at a crowded time), and has some lovely views (some golf course and westside DTD views; we saw the La Nouba "tent" from our villa :) ).

BTW, I think the new pool bar area there is now open; I'm not sure if they serve food (it wasn't open yet when we were there in early May).

Have a great time! SSR is a wonderful resort. :thumbsup2

Do you have any pictures of the inside or out side of grandstand? Also can you fill up your mug in that section?

In case anyone's interested...... here's a view from a 4th floor Studio in The Grandstand (Room 8432) of the pool area. We never heard a sound when our balcony door was closed. :thumbsup2

Great pics -- I saw other pools there but not this one!

Also wanted to say hi neighbor! I live about 30 minutes from Gwinnett Co.!

Thanks the pool looks really pretty!! Is that building where you can refill your mug?

Refillable mugs aren't the best bargain at DVC resorts. Since you have a kitchen in your villa, it's so easy to fill it up with cheap soda and whatever from Publix or your grocery of choice. We only get refillable mugs at the non-DVC resorts where you can get frozen Coke products.

Anyone have any experience with a Paddocks location?
We will be in a studio

thanks in advance!

Jean

Thanks neighbor! This is the pool at The Grandstand and it's wonderful. There's a great water-play area for kids just out of camera range (to the bottom right of the picture!)

If walking to DD I would request Congress Park or The Grandstand buildings. CP is close to the DD Marketplace walkway. Some of the Grandstand buildings are close to the DD Westside walkway (go behind main building...across a bridge to the walkway.

If you want close to the main building (main pool, restaurants CS and TS, gym, spa, arcade, community hall) request The Springs or The Grandstand (some buildings).

If you want to be close to a quiet pool request Congress Park, The Paddocks or The Grandstand (however, this new area and pool has interactive features so "quiet" might not cut it:rotfl:)

If you want more secluded areas (although all areas have some serenity to them...some Grandstand buildings face the golf course) well The Paddock or The Carousel. The Carousel is the farthest from everything.

I always ask for top/high floors at DVC. However, I once stayed in a first floor facing DD (Congress Park) and it was spectacular. So you might be pleasantly suprised if you don't get what you want.

Be aware there are some "poor" views. And of course you might get one. I stayed at CP and looked at woods. No big deal I was minutes the the Marketplace (DD). There a few parking lot views. Chances are slim of course. But in general there are some great views.

Enjoy.

Thanks LISAVIOLET. I was wondering about Congress Park. It sounds very nice, but did you have any trouble with bus service to the parks? I see it is the fourth stop on the bus route. Where there times when you couldn't get on the bus?? I envision it filling up at the first three and then CP and Springs guests are out of luck. Does this sort of thing happen??

Bus service is similar to all Disney resorts, in that at times buses will be full and you have to wait for the next one, and at times you will get right on.

I truly don't think you will have to worry about it, very few guests actually get thier rooms requests and I would not base it on the buses.

At check in the CM will let you know what is available and you can pick from there.

You know I'm laughing. All my stays at SSR have been at CP. However, I'm the laziest vacationer. Last vacation at VWL I didn't even go to a park. I really can't remember any problems when using SSR buses. :lmao: However, I have never been at a bus stop in the morning hours :lmao: That, even at the Values pre 2005 and DVC, are things I know for sure!

Holy crap. Hopefully, someone will jump on....

When we made the original plans at ASMU we had all day everyday devoted to parks. I told my kids we will be making a few adjustments so we can enjoy the resort!!!!

Funny you say that, DisneyNY- my friend and I were just saying the same thing this afternoon.!! Now that our GG hase been upgraded to 4 1br. We are going to spend maybe a little more time at the resort and not be in such a rush to get back to the parks. This changes the feel of our whole vacation.:wizard:

I guess all New Yorkers do think alike!!!
