We have visited WDW many times and stayed in most of the DVC resorts. However, this is our first time staying in SSR. I am a little nervous after reading about it's vastness. I can't seem to find a layout of the buildings. The DVC reservations person recommended requesting the Grandstand. Any thoughts on which building would be best? We are staying in a 2 bdrm and will have a vehicle. Thanks!

We were in Congress Park last year. We were on the bottom floor with a quiet pool right outside our patio. The main pool was a short drive away and we parked right across the street from it. We did use our rental car to get around, it was easy to find parking. We loved it at SSR, the rooms are beautiful.

I booked the bounceback offer for SSR for DW birthday. April 6 to April 12. Her b-day is April 7th. Its a surprise.

This will be our 1st stay at SSR. So I need the help of you SSR regulars....

I booked the 1BR villa. How big is the 1Br ?. Where is the Jacuzzi tub? Is it big enough for 2 ?

I was going to surprise her with some kind of a fruit basket and champagne in the room. I would like to make this a very special bithday for her. Can I call SSR directly for this or Disney in general ?

I did request the Congress Park buidling.

Thanks
KG

We loved the Springs! :goodvibes It is close to everything (rentals, pool, arcade, dining, lobby) to be convenient, yet far enough away there is not noise or distraction. It is beautiful!

The jacuzzi tub in the one bedroom is not that big and two people might be crowded. But if you don't mind being cozy....

You'll get a king sized bed in the master bedroom.

I think for the champagne and fruit basket you'll need to call the Disney Florist.

The one bedroom at SSR is not much different than the one bedroom at BWV, BCV or VWL. Just a difference in decor and colors. But much different than OKW.

thanks for the info.

To all of you 1BR villa regulars....is it worth the extra $$ to stay in a 1BR or save the money and stay in a studio ?

We have no kids, so the kitchen and laundry would be no issue. I would like for DW to just be able to relax in the jacuzzi tub though. The jacuzzi tub is the "selling" point of staying in a 1BR villa....but i am not sure if its worth an extra $600.

Thanks KG

Stayed at SSR last week in the Congress Park section and had a great view of DTD and was close to a quite pool/hot tub. Really enjoyed that section as we were able to walk to DTD marketplace in around 10 minutes and the buses only made one more stop (Springs) before leaving the resort. If you are going to be using your car I don't think it really matters. BTW, the Grandstand is surrounded by the golf course, so you could end up with a nice view.

Well, I would compare the studio to a deluxe resort room. Approximately the same size with a similar bathroom layout (toilet/tub in one room, sink outside), and with one queen bed and the sofabed, the big difference is that you have a microwave and a slightly larger refrigerator.

I have stayed in both studios and 1BR units, depending on the length of the trip. The big selling points for me with the 1BR are the laundry (I pack half as much as I would have to otherwise), the full size refrigerator (you don't have to struggle to get beverages to fit), the king size bed (in the studio, only a queen), a separate tiled shower (I hate shower curtains) and the room to spread out and really relax. Many times I've had a huge balcony that went from the bedroom all the way across to the living room (one time I had two separate balconies, one off each section).

I can't afford a 1BR all the time, but when I can, it's sure nice.

Just got back from WDW. :( Anyway we stayed for a week at SSR and we were in the Grandstand. It was perfect. Walking distance to the main building and the pool there was great. The main pool is awesome as well and as I said it was just a short walk to get there. Once at the main building there is everything there. Plus when driving in Grandstand is right there (first turn you can make once you are through the main gate. So that was nice as well.

I also just returned. We had a studio in Congress Park with a view of Downtown Disney. I personally would not shell out an extra $600 for the one bedroom but fla4fun broke it down well.
