I am thinking of changing my resrvation to Saratoga Springs for personal reasons from AKL. I was wondering how long it takes to get to each of the parks on the bus. How long the boat ride is to downton disney and is it ECV accessible.

Bus transportation to the parks can take around 35-45 minute. Remember the bus at SSR must make several stops through out the resort before departing for the park.

THe boats are ECV capable.
I like SSR, I do. But, there are maybe 5 stops, total, at SSR. If you get on that first bus to a park, at the Grandstand section (as I did), it can take 20 mins before you leave the property!!! Drives me nutty.
So plan accordingly.

I have a couple more questions. How late do the boats run from Saratoga Springs to Downtown Disney and where do they dock at.

The boats probably run until about 11pm. They dock behind the main bldg area. Have you checked out a resort map? That might help. It's sometimes hard to just visualize something.

I know I've taken the boat from the PI or West Side area. I don't think there is a SSR specific boat that runs from the Marketplace area right to SSR, but I could be wrong. I know I got on the boat at Marketplace, but we went over to the PI area (or West Side), and then on to SSR.

I know there is a walkway also do you know where it crosses over to downtown disney and what part you get to first.

Can't help you there. I believe the walkway is in the Congress Park area. But I never used it. So can't help much. You would end up in the Marketplace section of DTD...same as the buses.

Perhaps this might help a bit...

we heard lots of terrible things about the transportation at SSR but we actually loved it. We were in the Grandstand section and it was perfect being the first ones on the bus because we always got a spot. This might be helpful to you if you have an ECV in your group. The bus does make multiple stops within the resort but I found this less annoying than when we stayed at YC and had to stop and BC, BW, and Swan/Dolphin.

I also thought the ride was much shorter than expected to MK. We went first week of December and it wasn't too crowded so this could have helped. My only complaint was that it seemed to take awhile for a bus to arrive at the park to return to the resort. But I think this is not resort specific and could be because we were never going back to our resort at popular times.

The boat was a relaxing way to travel. They came frequently and the boat drivers were really friendly and helpful. The boats became part of the fun of our trip.

We never used the walkway so I can't comment on that.

We were originally booked at BCV and BLT for this trip but also had to change for personal reasons. SSR was all that was left to choose from. SSR used to be almost last on my list (just ahead of OKW) for Deluxe resorts but we are converts and would love to stay here again.

Have a great trip! :)

Thanks for everyones help. I have requested grandstand close to transportation so my husbands ECV gets on the bus. I realize we will have to stop at every stop but when we stayed OKW we often had to wait for a second bus because we were the second to last stop for the resort. Can't believe we will be leaving 3 weeks from today.

We stayed in the Congress Park section, it is the last stop for the buses to parks and also a 5 minute walk from DTD. If I remember correctly the bus journey to the parks was maybe 10 minutes or so but at night you are the last stop so it takes a bit longer which was just fine for us, an extra rest for our feet before walking to our room after a day at the park! The walk to DTD was great, we did it just about every day, it made DTD a bigger part of our holiday which I really liked. It meant if we came from the parks earlier because DD was tired we still had the option of bundling her into her stroller and walking over to check out what was happening at DTD and getting more out of our early night than sitting in the room watching TV. :goodvibes

Grandstand is a great section to be in. I loved just walking out the door and right to the bus stop!! I was in the bldg right at the bus stop, so very convenient. That will make boarding with an ECV much easier.
I am currently waitlisted for BWV in early Dec...I doubt I'll get it, which means either SSR or OKW for me. Not sure which one I'll take...last minute decision I guess.

THe other nice thing about Grandstand is having their pool and pool bar right there. I can't say enough how happy we were with this section and its proximity to a bus stop and pool. And our room sat right on the golf course!
