Saratoga Springs--too close to Pleasure Island?

During our sept. trip we wandered over to the WDW Shopping Village and saw Saratoga Springs well under construction. I remarked to Mrs. U that those poor people with rooms right across the lake from DD/PI won't be able to get to sleep until somewhat after 2:00 AM.
Does anyone else think this might be a problem?? I doubt the units will be sound conditioned in any real sense, and families with small children (or with adults like me who sack out early) may want to rethink Saratoga Springs (??).

It's hard to know for sure, but my guess is they will have soundproof windows/doors to outside noise. I remember thinking how noisy it would be over the pool or boardwalk at BWV, with the balcony door shut, it is surpisingly quiet. At the GF, with the balcony door open you can hear noises drifiting across from the MK. I especially recall the howling dog from the HM. That sound could be heard from before the park opened. With the door shut, nothing was heard in the room. It must be similar to the soundproofing used in luxury city hotels. Of course, with the doors open, you will hear sound.

You are right, though. If quiet is a must for sleep, it would be best to do a "test" stay at SSR before making it "home".

I asked the very same question when we toured the DVC. As I am a very light sleeper and go to sleep well before everything is closed, I was very concerned about this, too. Our guide told us they are building the units with special soundproofing to eliminate this as a concern. Guess we'll just see how it goes. We bought, anyway, just thought it was too good of a deal to pass up. I'm thinking phase 2 should be well away from all of the hustle and bustle of Pleasure Island, as well, and more suited for the light sleeper types like me! :D

At DL, the GC has rooms that overlook DD or DCA. Those rooms have special soundproofing in the walls and sound absorbing glass. They were pretty quiet. The Imagineers have dealt with this issue before, so I bet they considered it at SSR as well.

In October we took the boat from OKW to DTD. When we got to the SSR construction stie, I paid particular attention to the noise that I was hearing from DTD, now mind you we were on the water half way inbetween DTD and SSR, and we could not hear noise. I think the only sounds that will be noticeable will be fireworks at midnight.

Also, we stayed at the Vacation Villas and Fairway Villas before there was ever a Disney Institute, these are the condos that were on the SSR site, and these were built years and years ago--in fact stayed there in 1984, and there was no noise from across the water. Our room actually overlooked the then Empres Lilly, now Fultons, so we were right on the water's edge.

I do not think there is any reason for concern for noise. If anything, DTD will be a beautiful site all lit up at night from SSR.

While I agree this may be a legitimate concern, I am putting my faith in DVC to properly sound proof the lakeside villas. On my recent visit I was surprised to see just how close SSR is to DTD.
That being said, I do believe that a DTD view may well be the most requested view. I would absolutely love this view, but then again, I love Pleasure Island and could never be to close...

I hate to disagree with a previous poster, but we actually asked to be moved OUT of one of the Villas overlooking the lake at DTD because we were sick of the PI fireworks noise every night. We will consider staying at Saratoga only after we check out the noise levels during fireworks. That being said, I would assume that Disney is telling the truth about extra soundproofing.

WE won't be in our room we will be at Pleasure Island trying to stay young and sleep during the day when you guys and girls are in the parks Lol!!pirate: pirate:

Could I ever be too close to Pleasure Island? I don't think so...

This is an interesting subject about noise ... I got a lesson last weekend about how spoiled I am by DVC :). We were in Charleston, SC at a historic hotel - it was horrible. Outside noise was just one of the many problems with the hotel (their web pages says they recently underwent a $12 million renovation, but not in the rooms :( ). One could be in the bathroom (2nd floor & 6th floor) & hear the noise outside - specific voices, specific conversations. Then just when we thought we were falling asleep another emergency vehicle came by. This continued all night long. At least at DVC I can sleep morethan three hours a night :)!
