hi, I'm headed back to WDW next week and will be staying at SS. Stayed there before in a townhouse. We have a smaller group this time in 2 bedroom. Any thoughts on the building we want to ask for? I don't want to be near smoking and like to have transportation conveniently nearby. I recall there is a quick food place over the walking bridge. If I remember right bus or walking is the only way to move around. My cousin is going to WDW for the first time ever so this is going to be a success no matter what but thought I'd ask for some input. Thanks all!

Grandstand section is near the first bus stop so would be best to catch the uncrowded bus. Paddock is 2nd bus stop.
I'm going in may and i'm requesting grandstand bld 15 which is closest to the bus stop.

Thank you. I requested near transportation. I'll call tomorrow to ask for grandstand. Not sure how crowded things will be but its good to have that option. Enjoy your trip!

We requested and got Grandstand section. We were also in a 2 bedroom and we loved it. The bus stop was literally right outside our building. We never had any problems with the buses. The main building was a short walk away and we enjoyed the quiet pool nearby.

We've never stayed in any section other than Congress Park. WE like having a Downtown (now Disney Springs) view.

The pool is quiet (no amenities like a QS or a slide). We hardly ever have problems getting on a bus there.

Many times we do walk up to the Springs to get a drink before getting on the bus there, but, still not that big a problem. I can't recall ever having to deal with a REALLY crowded bus at SSR. Now at POR or POP, yes, but SSR no.

On the way back, we will frequently get off at the Grandstand, stop at the bar there (if open) to fill our mugs, and/or stop at Artist palette to refill and then walk on to Congress Park.

We also prefer the Grandstand section. Love that it's the first bus stop and only a few minutes walk to the water taxi to go to Disney Springs or up to the front to go to Artist Palette or Turf Club. Nice pool / splash play area and drink refill station right there. We prefer either building 8101-8436 or 8501-8836. There are 2 other buildings in Grandstand that aren't quite as close (they're 9101-9436 and 9501-9836). I would personally try to get in one of the 8000 buildings if possible. Very convenient section if you can get in one of the 8000 buildings.

We took Paddock, which was the area they had us booked when we arrived. I asked about grandstand and they would have moved me but we decided to stay at Paddock. I liked it. We had 2 bus stops to choose from and a lovely view of the lake, fountain and bridge. We couldn't see fireworks but could see the hot air balloon and top of cirque de soleil from Disney springs. Now, we had a car. I found it a little too far to walk in the morning for breakfast and coffee. I don't cook when I'm on vacation so....

If I didn't have a car I would not choose this resort as I do enough walking through the parks (we honestly walked 12 miles one day according to fit bit). But it was delightful to see the runners/joggers/walkers on the path as I enjoyed coffee. It is a beautiful resort

Because we had a car we used it to go to Olivia's for dinner. A favorite dining spot. But we used Disney transports for everything else.

Thanks to everyone for their input. Can't wait to return!

Walking up to the Artist's Palette or Turf Club is one reason why we like the Grandstand - it's less than 5 minutes to walk up for meals. Paddock (near pool) would be our 2nd choice. Glad you enjoyed our home resort - it is very pretty (we think).

Im actually okay in any section BUT Paddock. I can find something okay with any of the others. DH and I are headed there in Oct for a parents only trip in a Studio. SSR is our home and we've never stayed there, but are excited to this time. If we request Congress Park, is our chance of getting it likely? (check in on a Thur)

Love the idea of walking to Springs to have a drink before catching the bus :) this will be us. Trip without kids! F&W trip - yes please
