We are newer DVC owners - purchased VGF last year, first trip "home" was in May and that is our only DVC stay to date. We are taking a surprise birthday trip for our son's 9th birthday (on Halloween, but trip will be a few days sooner).

We've already got the room reserved, the 3 of us have APs...if we were to decide to invite a guest, what would the sleeping arrangements be for the 4th person? Specifically, he's friends with a little girl a few years older than him, her mother said that she could go with us on Disney trips in the future (the kids get along great, we adore her, and since I have no daughter and my nieces aren't nearby, her mother gets that I like to "borrow" her daughter to do the things that I would have done with a girl if I'd been blessed to have my own daughter).

If this isn't something where she would have her own bed (which due to her age, and that she is not a family member), then obviously this wouldn't be a trip to take her on - and honestly it wasn't planned that we would this trip, it just popped into my head now on a whim and would be dependent on many other factors.

So for future reference: I know that VGF studios have separate beds thanks to the murphy bed. What other resorts would sleep that extra person in their own bed?

SSR is just a queen bed and double sofa sleeper.

The only studios with the extra fold down bed are VGF and VWL.

You could take a twin airbed with sheets and blanket and set it near the entry door. It would give her a little privacy.

Brilliant idea! And, actually a valid reason for an owner's locker! We had debated whether one would be necessary, thinking that a lot of the things we would want from trip to trip could expire (sunblock, etc.) and since we aren't the type to want to cook in the room it just didn't seem needed for us, but something like an air mattress for taking a friend as a 4th... This makes sense!

If it's just the mattress you would keep in there, make sure the yearly costs make sense! I'd rather just check a bag with the air mattress for $30 than pay the yearly cost on an OL for it.

Also, watching my now 10 year old starting to change in relationships with girls (he's on a dance company so many of his friends are girls) I'm not sure that the trips shared with this girl will necessarily continue.

Since your son is pretty young, you may have him sleep on the couch with sheets and blanket (not the pullout). It is less tight in the room that way, and he may even like it more (kids can sleep anywhere with very few physical reprocussions).

We just stayed in an SSR studio with 4 . We brought an aerobed and it worked ok. We moved the table/chairs to the corner of the room (by the sliding glass door for the balcony), then put the aerobed against the wall opposite of the couch. Worked pretty good, but it was tight for luggage and general space in the room. Since we only used the room for sleeping and showering it worked ok.

After that stay we have re-evaluated our DVC "room choices" and from now on we will be staying in 1 bdrms or larger. The only exceptions for studios we will do is VWL and VGF as they have the extra sleeping murphy bed. Also OKW studios are larger and have 2 queen beds ..........may try that out too.

For little kids, you should be fine with a twin "blow-up" bed , especially if you keep the couch folded in . (BTW, if there is any way you could get into a studio at VWL or GFV, you wouldnt need the "blow-up" bed.

Good luck !
