Hi. I'm a complete newbie, going to WDW August 2012 for 16 nights, staying at SSR. Very excited already!

Our party will be me and DH and DDs 6 and 12. We're booked into a studio room, and wondered if anyone could tell me what the sofa bed's like. Is it going to be comfy enough for the kids for 16 nights or are there annoying bumps and lumps? Any help greatly appreciated!

Sorry can't help with SSR we stay at OKW, just wanted to say welcome to DISboards. :welcome:

Ask anything you need to know there is usually someone who knows the answer.:thumbsup2

I'm sure your kids will be fine. I've slept on the sofa on our 2 trips to SSR and never felt uncomfortable. Have a lovely trip :)

Welcome to the DIS :goodvibes

We stayed in a studio at OKW 2010 and are booked again for 2012.

Free dining is a great deal.

Only took a few naps on it but it was fine I wouldnt say it was any different to the bed it was very welcoming especially after a busy day in the park :)

We have just got back and my almost 16 year old daughter slept like a brick in it, struggled to get her up in the mornings!

Thanks for the welcome! Feeling our accommodation plans should suit us fine, and of course the free dining's a great deal. So glad there's somewhere I know I'll get answers!

If you don't find it comfortable enough, call Housekeeping and ask them for a mattress topper. It's only a thin layer of foam but it does help.

We stayed in a 1 bed last year and the kids slept on the sofa bed in the lounge. My son,7 was fine but my daughter ,11 found it really uncomfortable and ended up sleeping on all the cushions she could find ! Thats 1 reason why this year we went for a studio at OKW and they had a proper bed . ut maybe shes the exception as others seem to be fine.

I agree with the above.I slept on it and it was far to hard but DD 8 never moaned .Much prefer the studios at OKW.Bigger and 2 proper beds to sleep on.

My niece's, who were 22 & 25 at the time, used the sofa bed in the lounge of our 2 bed apartment in SSR. We stay 16 nights and they both said how comfy it was and they had plenty of space too:thumbsup2

We'd booked a studio but were upgraded to a 1 bedroom. It had one bed and one sofa bed....we took it turns sleeping on the sofa bed and it was fine. You never know you may even get upgraded!! fingers crossed.

Thanks everyone. Mermaid2sea - that's interesting you got upgraded - I didn't know whether that was a common occurrence at Disney, but I did have it in the back of my mind as a possibility. We're been upgraded twice at our favourite Turkey hotel, and both times have been glad we didn't pay! I see you still get a sofa bed as the second bed at SSR anyway, so glad it should be comfortable enough.

we stayed on a sofa bed in SSR for two weeks and gave the kids the bed, wouldn't do it again, the sofa bed is fine for small children, but not a comfortable option for adults for two weeks.
