We'll be staying at the Saratoga Springs Resort in October in a 2bedroom villa and am curious about reviews - pros and cons. I'm worried the bus service might take forever compared to other resorts - has anyone stayed recently who can give their thoughts? (and maybe some recent pics)

Since Saratoga Springs is a DVC resort, you might have better luck posting your question on the DVC Planning forum, there are lots of SSR owners over there who'd be happy to tell you about their experiences! :)

HI! We stayed at SSR last October and the bus service was actually very impressive! There were a few days where it was a little slower leaving the parks to go back to SSR ! But no major complaints! I have pictures but I have no way to get them on here! sorry! The only thing bad is depending on where your Villa is located it could be a long walk to the POOL or the Main Building! When we were there Saratoga was still being built up they were in the process of doing the Grand Villas! I'm hoping they added at least another pool! It is a nice resort though and the little restaurant is very nice! You have to try the Chicken Cesear Salad on Flat Bread it was Awesome! Make sure you purchase a refillable mug you're first day you can fill it with soda or coffee etc.. it is well worth it after your first day it  pays for itself! Hope this helps some!

If you post this on the DVC planning forum you will find plenty of people who have stayed at SSR recently.

We found the bus transportation to be the same as all Disney buses.

Thank you everyone for your imput! I will post this on the DVC board (not sure why I didn't think of that but glad you helped me with this). We are pretty excited to finally be going - after looking at the map layout, I hope we get in the carriage house (looks closer for walking to Downtown Disney)!

There are no rooms in the Carriage House, that's only for check in, dining, shopping. Congress Park is the closest to DTD, but some of the Paddock buildings are close to DTD as well. The Springs is closest to the Carriage House and main pool.

I LOVE SSR!!! I currently have ressies at BWV during Thanksgiving and I am considering changing back to SSR, if it's not to late. We stayed at Congress park. Nice 5 min. stroll to DTD. My kids LOVED the theme pool and slide. It is not at all too small. Don't listen to bitter johnny. The resort is beautiful, great pool and food. Lot's to do at community hall for the kids. I promise you want be disappointed. From the moment i drove thru the gates of SSR i new i chose the right home.

We are going the stay DVC SSR in October for the first time ( own at OKW )
and staying at OKW in October too.
We did not buy SSR 'cause we live in Western New York and wanted a different feeling.
My Sister lives in Saratoga, NY so we can go there anytime, but I am looking forward to seeing SSR at WDW.

We just returned from SSR yesterday and had a great time. My only regret is that we only stayed for 5 nights and didn't have the time to experience everything the resort had to offer. We stayed in an end studio on a high floor with the BEST view of DTD - right by the walking path to DTD and yet close to the Springs area. The pool in our area - Congress Park was beautiful and the main pool was very quiet with plenty of beds. When we went to swim, howver, the pool bar had closed and the lifeguards weren't there so we couldn't try out the slide. Our room number was, BTW, 2701. If there is anything you need to know, please ask.

We didn't have any problems with the buses - the longest wait was after Fantasmic but even that wasn't too long. There were far fewer people at SSR bus stop than all the other resorts, every time.

Ssr may not have all the amenties of BCV or Yacht club but it is comparable to other DVC resorts! I thought it was very nice The Pool I can't remember if it had a poolside snack bar but even if it didn't the Artist Pallet restaruant and convience store were footsteps away from the pool! Which are connected to the carriage house! I don't see you regreting youre stay there! It will be very nice! Maybe when you get back you can tell us what you did and didnt like! I'm sure you won't have many dislikes!

A few photos of the "small" pool and "sparse" landscaping (taken in August):

We  SSR!

starbox,

Great pictures of that sparse SSR landscaping and small pool............seriously, the landscaping has really filled in a lot over the past two years.....I remember when some of those plants were sparse (right after they were planted). We truly enjoy SSR.....of course we love VWL also.

VWL and SSR are my favorites! I grew up in Florida so enough with the beachy-theme resorts for me. All my youthful travel fantasies involved New York and mountain lodges. I used to gaze longingly at L.L. Bean catalouges and wish I could be somewhere with flannel and pines!

That's what is so great about WDW - there is something for everyone. (I'd love to see a European-themed DVC someday.......)

Great resort, transportation is as good as any Disney resort. We really like the Counter Service area, good food, great service and an visually pleasing place to sit and eat.

Room decor is upscale and very nice. Views of Downtown Disney are very nice and garden views are good too.

That is so interesting...I've done so many "flannel and pine" vacations to upstate NYC (where our summer cottage is) that Florida is like a little fantasy land to us- palm trees, warm breezes in the middle of winter, etc. That said...we still bought at SSR.... something comforting about the Disney version of "home" (in the summer at least).

We loved SSR so much that it has overtaken WL as my favourite resort and we are staying there again on our honeymoon.

I highly recommend the springs section as it is close to amenities such as the main pool, and carriage house. The bus stop is just outside the entrance of the building.

Buses were slow sometimes, but we have found that at other resorts too. The walk to Downtown Disney is so convenient.

We stayed at SSR last November, and are staying here again in October. We stayed in the Springs section which was very convienient. I was a little upset at first because we had a first floor unit, and I enjoy sitting on the balcony at night. But the patio was so nice - with a view of the lake and the ducks and rabbits playing nearby, that I enjoyed this just as much. The first floor patios seemed more private than at some of the other resorts - not a lot a traffic going by.

We enjoyed this resort, very upscale.

We love SSR too. We're going back in October 06 and April 07. I love having access to DTD since we usually go in the off season and the park hours are shorter. It's a beautiful resort. We had longer waits and more crowded buses when we stayed at BWV and Dolphin than at SSR.

We had a great time during Christmas. You'll have fun! :thumbsup2 We're staying in a two bedroom at SSR next June- my parents and my best friend as a graduation present. We're really excited. One of the pluses of this resort is the fact that it's so new. Everything will seem brandnew for the most part compared to other resorts. And yes, the walkway to DTD is very convenient. I've also read awesome reviews from the Turf Club, SSR's new table- service restaurant. We will definitely have to check that out. We liked the Artist Palette a lot too- the counter service- there are a lot of choices. If these don't interest you, there's also the plethora of dining eateries in DTD too, awesome plus. We didn't have problems with the bus service last year during Xmas but now I've realized that there are a lot more bus stops so it'll be interesting to see how it has changed. Hope you have an awesome trip!
