Saratoga Springs Resort…tell me what you love about it please.

I love the grounds, just beautiful. The parking is great if you have a car. It got a quality renovation and I also liked having an entryway with a table - great place to drop a purse and magic bands.

I guess I'm in the minority here, but I found sleeping in the living room of a 1 BR to be pretty loud, but nothing ear plugs couldn't mask. The remodeled rooms with the Murphy beds were beautiful. The spa is great - I was just at the newly reopened Tenaya Stone Spa at the Grand Californian a couple of weeks ago. It was gorgeous, but felt small. I loved the facilities at Saratoga's Senses and can only imagine what they can do if it gets a refresh. The treehouse villas are also a pretty awesome option at a relatively low point cost.

I just stayed at Saratoga for the first time with 2 kids in November for a non park visit. My youngest said that it's her new favorite resort. We stayed in the Grandstand section and walked to and from Disney Springs daily. It was a long walk, so not for everyone, but it's just what we needed after being in cooped up for 2 years. The grounds were immaculate as someone stated, and the renovated studio was amazing. I did use a white noise machine at night to block out the noise of people coming in late from the parks and I highly recommend it. I loved all of the pools, Community Hall was spacious and full of activities. We also rode the 4 person surrey bike and loved every minute. We're splitting our May trip and going back for a few nights because we loved it so much. We want to end our trip with 3 nights at this relaxing resort.

We have stayed there numerous times the past 5 years or so. My mom (75) loves the resort b/c it's so peaceful and spread out in comparison to some of the others. We love the closeness to Disney Springs and the pools. We go to Disney at least 2 times a year so our trips are more leisurely and Saratoga is perfect for that.

We are proud owners at SSR. I love that you can take a boat or walk over to DS and see Drawn to Life at Cirque du Soleil, take a boat to POFQ for Beignets, walk to DS and take a bus to any of the resorts for dining. The vibe at DS at night is such a change from the parks. You’ll see how much dining is available within walking distance from SSR. Put on a summer dress after a hot day in the park and stroll around the live music, outdoor dining and shopping.
A reminder, not all gift shops carry the same items. World of Disney doesn’t have everything. Yes, I said it! You can take a boat up to Riverside and check out their gift shop. I love the layout of that one, as resort gift shops go.
The DVC resorts all have some special catch, as you know, I’m sure. I’ve never been to Disney with a group larger than 4, but I think SSR would be nice for a larger get together. Many areas to find a place to sit & laugh and let the kids be kids. Those are the memories we’ve enjoyed. Welcome Home to SSR!
P.S. There’s a Billiard table in the lounge your gentlemen may enjoy.

To get to POFQ, don't you need to take the boat to DS, then the boat to POFQ? Thanks for clarifying.

Yes. The only boat that makes multiple stops is the SSR one, with docks at the Carriage House and at the Treehouse Villas (both stops still within SSR).

Our 1st stay there many years ago, maybe 05-06, it was still fairly small, not a lot of amenities that I remember, and DTD at that time was not a big draw for our family. Swore we would never stay again. FF a few years later, the resort had grown to what we know it to be now, Ginormous! And we were needing a place to stay last minute, so we resolved to give SSR another try, and boy are we glad we did. And DTD was still in its waining days, maybe right at the start of construction on the new to be DS.

We have stayed several times since then. Im not a golfer anymore but its so peaceful sitting on the balcony in the AM, sipping coffee and watching the golfers whack away. Its a beautiful resort now, well groomed and taken good care of. The CMs there I find to be among some of the nicest and most helpful on property.

The proximity to DS is appealing now too, with so many places to choose to eat, we are just as content eating there as in the parks or other resorts.

I would rank it 3rd in line amongst the WDW DVC resorts among my favorites, and its always on our list of resorts to stay these days as a repeat

SSR is a very relaxed resort for a non park visit. Great pools, close to DS, beautiful grounds for a quiet and relaxing stay.

Where can you see golfers at SSR? That's one reason DH loves OKW-he can sit on the balcony and watch the golfers. I've only seen a few rooms in the Grandstand section that appear to have golf course views. DH is only NOY watching golfers when he's out playing. I'd like to give him an elevator option, since I use an ECV.

The whole Grandstand section is entirely surrounded by fairways, but you need an outward facing villa. Ironic that it's the only section with golf course views, as the clubhouse is actually located at SSR.

I lived in Saratoga Springs, NY for a short time when i was just out of high-school, and it's nostalgic to stay at SSR now.

We haven't stayed there since covid hit, but pre-covid we found we liked their restaurants better than most other places. Artist Palette, The Turf Club, and Chip and Dales cafe have all left us pleasantly surprised with our meals.
I also love being able to walk to DS.

It feels a little bit more relaxed than a typical Disney vacation, probably because it is so spaced out. I am also a big shopper, and love to be able to drop by Disney Springs for opening (first person in world of disney? sign me up!)

We own at SSR and before last summer we hadn’t been there in nearly 10 years. The resorts with Murphy beds are game changers for us (looking at you Riviera, Poly, VGF and SSR) and our teens. At SSR my kiddos love the two feature pools, the arcade, and the community hall too. I kind of like having my car close too. Now we’ve stayed there July 2021, April 2022 and planning on December 2022. In fact, it’s only 28 more points total to stay there in a 1 bedroom standard versus the Poly standard in a studio for our entire December trip!

Actually the PO boat has multiple stops as well. One at POFQ and one down at Riverside.

Can someone explain the preferred vs standard rooms? Looks like they are one point different when we are planning to go but I’m not sure which one to choose. Sorry in advance for going off topic.

Preferred is Springs and Congress park area of the resort. Standard is grandstand, carousel, and paddock.

Spring is the main area in middle of the resort, closest to the carriage house and the main feature pool high rock springs.

Congress park is the closest to DS and has some better views of the lake and DS.

If you book preferred you could be in either Springs or Congress park, you can request one or the other though but it is not guaranteed.
