Saratoga Springs Question

I have seen it mentioned that Saratoga Springs may possibly have a membership life of 50 years. Does this mean that it may be what some have called DVC II? If so, does this mean it is a totally new contract and you may not be able to do an add-on, but have to start with say a minimum? Don't know what made me think of this, although I am not totally awake yet, and somehow this just popped into my head.

Good morning! I've has a couple cups of coffee so let me take a crack at this one...

Assuming Disney keeps building DVC resorts, they'll have to switch over to a new 50 year contract at some point. Call it DVCII for now.

I don't see this as a very big change over DVC though. Every year, new member sign up for a shorter contract, so why not a longer one. The tricky part would be, what to do in 2042. Would the current DVC resorts switch over to "Disney Collection" point rates? Perhaps the DVCII contract would make some provision to extend the current point rate for another 10 years.

Add-ons shouldn't be a problem. Treat them as separate contracts. They'll expire when they expire...2042.

I can't imagine Disney making the dreadful mistake of excluding the current resorts from a DVCII contract. That'd be a terrible deal.

There has also been rumors of giving the current members some type of extension at their current home resort, for a fee of couse.

LOL...I got to thinking....I know *I* won't be one to extend my contract. I'll be very lucky if I am still around when my current contract expires!

I agree, Pinnie, I won't be extending my contract, either, since I will be totally senile, or else dead, by then. I can't imagine being able to find my way to Florida at the age of 90, unless medicine takes a big leap forward in the next few years!

Pinnie, I am not sure if I would extend mine or not. Lets see, in 39 years I will be 75. I still plan on going to WDW as long as I can make it there. But, if they offer extensions and if I decide to extend, it would be for my kids to bring their families not for me. My oldest will be 46 in 39 years.
