Saratoga Springs Goes on Sale

Exactly my point. The membership won't put up with that without it being a quid pro quo vis a vis an extension of the term of the timeshare, and Disney won't put money into the building and then "give" DVC owners 12 more years. So I see either the 50-year expenses are covered by new principal payments from members or are covered by Disney when they get the property back for use as hotel space.

Disney has shown the ability to judge pretty well what to expect. If anything, I'd expect a relative decrease the last couple of years as reserves won't be needed. Still, I would expect Disney to try to keep thing tip top at our expense.

I would assume one of the main reasons for the 12 year extension would be to ensure new owners at SS points will maintain their value longer than the other resorts. Point costs are continuing to rise at the moment, but 30 yeay olds are still buying in because they still have 38 years to amortize out the point costs. At some point, however, IMO about 10 years from now, if Disney doesn't extend the 2042 date, the price of the points of those resorts will start to fall. In 2025-2030 or so the price of points should drop dramatically. All of this assumes, of course, that the parks retain the luster necessary to attract new buyers. Can anyone imagine the types of rides an amusement park might have in 20 years?

The buzz at WDW is that SSR will be a 50 year deal with a point increase in 2 months to $89 or possibly higher. Also, no incentives will be given, so far. They do not feel the need to do so.

And if you were at the Boardwalk earlier today, you would agree. Every conference room they had (up to X in the alphabet) was full. In the one hour I was there, I saw 4 families leave with DVC pins and big smiles from the dvc reps. Even if DVC got 4 an hour in an 8 hour day with over 2100 hours in a year, that's alot of members......that's 8-9,000 members a year, conservatively....

Laurajean, you are correct. I tried to "visit" our guide over vacation a few weeks ago and we couldn't get NEAR her. She phoned later and says she doesn't remember it ever being so busy... She hardly gets a lunchbreak. Says she is not quite sure what will happen when BCV sells out so much before Saratoga is ready, but things are hopping down there and lots of families are definitely BUYING!

Why is it so busy now? Last marketing push to sell-out BCV and VB? Or, folks lookin' to get a jump on SSR?

I spoke to my guide last week and she said it has been unbelievable the amount of interest in DVC lately. I have a feeling those 11 month windows will be more and more important.

When I talked to my guide yesterday, he said there would be new incentives, but they won't get/can't release the information until August 3rd. I have to think they need to offer something to people during SS pre-sale -- those people are buying SS site unseen and won't be able to stay in their home resort for atleast another 8 months. Not to mention that BWV, VWL and BCV all had "prime" locations, where as SS is more "out of the way" like OKW. And they offered incentives for the pre-sale of VWL and BCV, so why not SS too?

My guide also said that there would be some type of incentive. He didn't say what but he seemed pretty confident that there would be something.

We decided today to add on at SSR when it becomes available instead of at BCV. If BCV is still available when SSR goes on sale then we may do both.

The more we hear about SSR, the more we like.

We like being away from it all. The spa will be there. The boat to DTD. The pool looks like it will be nice.

I can't wait to hear all of the details on 8/3.
