Anyone have any ideas on when they will start selling points into these two new DVC resorts?

Wouldn't it be great if they built a DVC at AKL area? My husband would snap that up in a flash.

Anyone know of a website that has detailed info on the two new resorts?

thanks again

My guess for SS is around Jan of 2004. I'm afraid my guess for EP is a little more ominous. I doub it's going to happen but if it does, I'd suspect it'll be ready just in time for SS to be sold out, maybe 2006 or so for phase 1.

I agree with Dean. I am not sure Eagle Pines will be developed in the forseeable future.
Sales should slow down once BCV is sold out.
However, if SS is a hit they can always develop more of the Institute as a DVC. They might also convert a moderate or (GOD help us!) Pop century to DVC. There are just too many hotel rooms unsold at WDW to develop a new DVC from scratch.

Eagle Pines might not be done for after all. A while back on one of the many boards out there someone wrote in about an article that they saw talking about how some of the Disney Institute property was now sitting on a Wildlife Refuge designated area.

It sounded like DVC was not going to be able to get as many buildings out of the Institute as they'd like to. My hope is that this would mean possibly a scaled down version of EP. I hope so, because my feeling is that EP would sell a great deal more than SS is going to, simply because of its planned location right on the golf course.

Actually, I am quite surprised that DVD is building SS before EP. Maybe they couldn't get all the land documentation done in time.

EP won't have anything ready, however, until at least 2006.

I think you're referring to some of the other structures at DI where if they totally tear them down they cannot rebuild them. This has no affect on the timeshares being built there. There was some speculation that they might refurb some of these units and add them to DVC but I think that's dramatically unlikely. More likely is they will have SS as a mixed use property with timeshares and regular rentals much like BW, WL and BC.

The problem with EP is it has been pushed back in time for at least a couple of years or so, it is a large resort and the existing end point for DVC is closing in. DVD must decide what it wants to do in the future. With EP being 600 units (larger than OKW) and out of the main stream, it will take a long time to sell out, likely 8-10 years or so. If it opened in 2006, that only leaves 36 years on the RTU and only about 26 or so at sell out. To me DVD is at a crossroads. Either they get out of timeshare building and selling or they extend the expiration date. To me, they won't extend the date just for EP so that means basically either build more than EP or quit after SS. I could see an AKL and possibly a Coronado springs DVC with a new 50 year start point and a possible extension for current DVC members to the new ending date, with a fee of course. The current economy might suggest that anyway as it would be a way for WDW to have extra visitors on site and for Disney to have someone else cover the maint of those resorts.

I've also speculated about the posibility of a Cheap DVC option for say Pop Century but if it happened, it'd need to be separate and different from DVC proper though there could be some limited crossover. I don't think this will happen but it was an interesting point for discussion.

When we were at the "World" last week we spoke with our guide. I asked about Eagle Pines, and she said it was still on the table, but no timetable had been established. An interesting note- she mentioned that the next day they were scheduled to have a meeting, and EP was the topic. But she was not sure whether it meant the project was heating up or getting colder.
