Saratoga Springs - can someone fill me in w/the details?

Having never stayed here looks like we may be here 4 nights in Dec.
If I want to be near the main busstop, etc what bldg do I request?
any other requests that I should be aware of?

There are multiple bus stops in Saratoga Springs, so all rooms should have a stop nearby. However, if you want to guarantee a seat every time, request the Grandstand area, which is the first bus stop. This area also has a very nice quiet pool and is still in close walking distance to the main building/lobby/foodcourt/theme pool section.

I agree whole-heartedly w/ OP about the Grandstand. We just got back from staying at SSR for the first time. I had requested the Springs and was disappointed when I was told that we were staying in the Grandstand Section. That disappointment only lasted until the next morning when we took the bus to MK. By the time we got to the Springs (last stop) that bus was so crowded!! On various bus rides, we passed by the Springs bus stop completely. I am sure that they call in another bus as those people showed up shortly after us. But we were happy to have a seat. The walk to the Carriage House/Spa/big pool is all of 5-7 minutes. And boy, is it quiet quiet quiet!! We were in 9621 in a two bedroom. Grandstand was GREAT!!! Have fun!

Don't be so sure of that 2nd bus in The Springs. In my first stay at SSR, we were in the Grandstand. 2nd stay was in the Springs. We rarely got a seat on any bus in the Springs. By the end of our trip, we started walking over to the Grandstand to catch the bus. It was well worth the short walk!!
However, staying in the Springs with its proximity to the food and main pool was really very nice.

We will be staying at SSR for a week in June. This will be our first trip to SSR but not to WDW. Can someone tell me if there is boat service from SSR to anyplace or is bus service the only mode of transportation? We will not have a car and from the sounds of some of the things I have been reading in the forums that there has been know bus problems at SSR. This is concerning to me. Can anyone offer any tips on getting around WDW from SSR without a car?

You can boat or walk to DTD. If the bus service is a problem, pick up the phone at the bus shelter and call transportation. I don't think that Disney enjoys giving poor transportation service.

We just got back from an 8 day stay at SSR, we treated our friends we had 2-2 bedroom villas, rooms 1810 and 1811 at congress park, Never a problem with waiting or getting on any bus, resort was at full capacity also as we tried to get another room for some more friends for a few nights. We are already planning our next trip to SSR next Spring and we've got a trip planned in Oct at the AKV's. We have always stayed at Congress park on all our visits but next visit we will try the Grandstand near the red pool as our 4 year old loved that pool. We love SSR over all the other dvc resorts there is so much to do especially with dtd being so close, they are working on a new restaruant at dtd, t-rex I think its called it will be ready this Fall. We used the gardengrocer and had some food delivered to our room, mostly breakfast and snacks,drinks, including some beer delivered.
