This is a red flag.

....(They think SSR will be stuffy while I think it looks luxurious- we are all SOOO different in what we like- they would be happy sleeping in tents or staying off-site)....

Seems to me that if they want to stay at a moderate, then they should. (PO is right nearby and really beautiful with tons to do.) It's their vacation, too, and everybody's tastes are different. There's nothing worse than planning what - to you - is a great vacation only to hear criticisms of "your" choices later. Let them stay where they want. It might even be a blessing in disguise. WDW vacations can be "intense" and stressful - people want to do their own thing and are happiest when they do. (If you don't believe me, refer to the many "never again" threads on the subject.)

BTW, we always get groceries delivered and ask for a room near the Quiet Pools (which have laundries). Not a biggie. Mods have a fridge and coffee maker. The last thing I want to do on vacation is cook or plan meals, and we're hardly ever in the room.

Do what suits you, and let others make their own decisions. Have a great time!

My family of 5-me, DH, DD14, DD9, DS1.5, stayed thereas that was the only thing left for last minute decision. Booked a studio but they upgraded us when we got there to a 1 bedroom with a crib-thank goodness! It was still smaller than expected but we liked it-however, with kids, it lacked the feel of kiddieness-like the value resorts. We did a lot of walking to the bus stops and the buses took awhile, but my kids are beyond full of energy and my DH and I like the walk. The fridge for the baby's milk and snacks was the best-as well as having the DVD player and the FANTASTIC view of the fireworks and the golfers playing.

Bus wait was actually the worst part of it-easier to take the boat to DTD and catch one there. And a lot of hands out for tipping-the porters, etc..- But it is SO nice if you get it for the same price.
