When I logged onto my computer, it said it was $9.99 for a 24 hour period on the Internet, so I didn't go on. I asked concierge about it the next day, because I had heard on these boards it should be free (thank you all!). She said that the site says they charge it, but they remove it from your room bill if you are a DVC member. So make sure to check your bill!

Same exact thing happened to me at VWL in August. Fortunately, no charges showed up when we checked out of the resort!!! Glad you posted this. I had forgotten, and I'm sure people will hesitate to log on fearing a $9.99 charge. :thumbsup2

P.S. If you're at SSR now, have a WONDERFUL visit!!!

The charge shows up on the log in screen because only members get it for free, so it has to be there for cash guests booked thru CRO.

Checking your bill before checking out is always a smart move :goodvibes

The $9.95 screen does have a disclaimer that says DVC members will not be charged, but it still is a little uncomfortable clicking "yes" for the charge every 24 hours! A poster on another thread had to go to the front desk because the charges DID appear on the checkout bill (our bill was correct), so it is a good idea to always check.

We used the internet service at BCV two weeks ago. It does say there is a $9.95 charge, but that it "does not apply to DVC Members". At this point they don't know whether you are or aren't a DVC member, so you have to agree to the charge anyways to use it, which gets charged to your room. The resort SHOULD remove the charge from the final bill if you are a DVC member (at least staying on points, although I don't believe the screen says that), but you should ALWAYS check your final bill to make sure you weren't charged, and if you were, go to the front desk to have it removed.

What about if you've made a reservation with your points for a family member in different room? (I'm in one room, they are in another). I assume they do NOT get the free internet since they aren't members (even though they are staying on my points)? is that correct?

It is a member perk, so unless the member is staying in the room, the $9.95 charge still applies. As far as I understand it, its not a "points" vs. "cash" thing, it is a "DVC member staying on points" vs. "everything else".

DVC Management has told me that villa wired internet access is free for anyone staying on points at a DVC Resort. If your room key has the words "DVC Member" on it then there is no charge for the internet.

Double check your room bill when you check out. Removing the internet charges is a manual function that is sometimes overlooked. If you are charged, call the Front Desk and they will remove them.

Wireless access is $9.95 per 24 hour period and is available at WDW Resorts, in the lobbies, common public areas and main pool areas. Wireless is not free for Members.

We have them charge once in a while. When we check and tell the front desk, it is removed. I found out years ago to always check your charges. That was how I was able to stay within budget. During those times I would find mistakes for and against me. I always check what is charged at purchase/meal and a printout almost every day.

We jsut returned. Had a 2 br and a studio. DD and her husband had the studio, utilised internet, and were not charged. I too saw that you had to accept the $9.95 charge. Was told by MS that if the room was booked on points, that the charges would not show up on the bill.

I wasn't charged when I left today. When I had to "re-register" after 24 hours, I looked all over the screen and didn't see anything about DVC members not being charged. If not for these boards, I wouldn't have even tried the Internet!

That happened to us when we stayed at BWV this summer. I called on the way out of town and told them that I was a DVC member. I had to clarify that I was and they took the charges off.

Thanks for the heads up! I will definately bring my laptop with me next year if it means I can contact home for free! :thumbsup2
