I really liked Sarah Palin's rimless glasses.:yay:

So... today I went back to the doctor for a follow-up exam on my new contact lenses. All is well on that front! :thumbsup2 I decided to get a new pair of reading glasses, just in case. So, I asked to see rimless glasses. :yay:

The woman that helped me asked me if I wanted to try on the frame model that Sarah wears; Kawasaki is the brand. I tried them on, but they were nearly $500 for the frame alone. I asked her to show me something less costly. The funny thing is that another client was looking at similar frames. One of the salesmen overheard us talking about Sarah's glasses and said that he has sold many of those frames in the past few weeks. He even had one client buy a pair with non-prescription lenses.

My husband is an optometrist. The day after Palin's address at the Republican Convention, the first call of the day was asking about her glasses! DH doesn't carry the actual frame that Palin has -- it's too pricey for our area. But, he did find some that were similar, and they've been selling like crazy!

I recently bought glasses and the optometrist said that "Palin's" frames were sitting on the shelf for a long time and no one bought them. Now everyone is coming in and is asking for "Palin's frames."

just a fyi

I wore rimless glasses twice, both times the edge of the lenses got chipped and scuffed up. You have to be very careful with them. Even the plastic lenses take a lot of wear and tear since they have no rim to protect them even from every day things like setting them on the table or counter.

Have had rimless for a pair of glasses pre-Sarah. :teeth: They are neat.

I wore rimless glasses forever, gosh probably 25+yrs ago. They were horrible back then.;)

I remember fishing in a boat and I leaned over and my lens fell into the lake. I was always losing that lens.

They used to chip, however they did improve and I wore them for a long time.

Then I got tired of them and wear half-rims now.:thumbsup2

i hate those frames. i work for a lab and all we've been hearing is "i want palin frames". they look horrible on certain face shapes, yet everyone is buying them. and they're a pain in the you-know-what to put lenses in.

Yep, I figured they wouldn't be as sturdy as those with frames. The woman that helped me told me about the chipping. I don't plan to use them very often. It's a back-up pair in case something goes wrong with my contacts. Gotta be prepared!:thumbsup2

I've had the same pair of rimless glasses for about 5 years.

Never have had a problem with them. They are super lightweight.
