since then. It's our favorite place, especially the beach at the Polynesian and walking around the Grand Floridian at night.

The proposal: We just got engaged in September. I was NOT expecting it at all but I'm so excited. His sister had sneakily asked me what kind of ring I wanted but I didn't think anything of it because we always talk about wedding things and she was showing me the different rings she liked. I didn't even know he had the ring. He tricked me into thinking he was bringing a chair and tv to his sister's place up by NH but instead he brought his whole family to look for a ring with him. They all agreed on one ring, which makes it even more special to me. I love his family so much. He asked me on our balcony, our special spot that overlooks Boston. It was perfect. My ring (1 ct brilliant solitaire):

We went back and forth for a long time about what to do for our wedding. We scratched the idea of a Disney wedding in the beginning because we felt guilty making our family travel. We priced a wedding up here and looked at so many places but we couldn't afford anything. The cheapest I could get our wedding down to was $22,000 and that was after cutting out a limo and videographer, and hiring a student photographer! We're paying for everything ourselves and it was so hard to swallow the thought of running up credit cards or never having a house because we'd be more in debt.

After the 18,000th venue I looked at I got so upset thinking about how we had to fill a giant room and I'd have to walk down the aisle in front of everyone...I'm really modest and I get embarrassed easily. The idea of being such a center of attention was scaring the crap out of me and I kept worrying about fainting walking down the aisle and all kinds of ridiculous things.

We got so stressed that we had a long talk and decided to get married secretly and then having a wedding in a few years. We ended up talking to our parents about it and they asked us not to get married in secret. My parents told us to do a Disney wedding, and they swore it wouldn't be a burden and that 19 months would be plenty of time. Initially we were only going to bring our parents but soon the word spread and so many people wanted to go. We decided to just do an intimate wedding and bring immediate family and a best friend each. I'm so happy to say we are at our max for guests and are having a Disney wedding!!

I originally wanted a place that had a fireplace or one that overlooked the ocean. I didn't want to do a regular reception hall, but after putting Disney into place I could care less if we have our reception in a cardboard box!
We decided to host it at an Elks because it's much less expensive. Our reception is going to take place as if we just left the church and arrived at the hall. We're inviting all of our family and friends, and although we and the bridal party will be dressed up, it's going to be more like a big party.

I just started putting everything together, and I want to use this PJ as a way to organize my thoughts.

So far I know our theme will be the colors of fall: cranberry/wine red, burnt orange, maize yellow, and brown, and we'll have gerber daisy accents such as bouquets and on the cake.

The first wedding dress you posted is the same one I showed my Valerie! It's beautiful!

Congratulations! Looking forward to sharing the journey with you! popcorn::

If you don't mind me asking, how much was your estimate for candy apples? Were they coming from a local area? I didn't realize the coasters were so cheap. I'll probably get them no matter what! They are less than $2 bucks for a pack of two.

Thanks so much. :goodvibes Do you and DF work together? Are you at a regional trauma hospital or a community?

We met at work--I got a promotion and couldnt be his boss-at least not at , work:rotfl: - so he is in another hospital now. I am currently at a smaller hospital, not for long though we are under a huge expansion and will be a trauma center by the end...

btw- love the candy apples! So perfect for a fall wedding! The frames would be perfect for place cards.:goodvibes

:rotfl: Do you have any opinion for a new grad as an experienced ER nurse? Would I be better off jumping right in with both feet at a major Boston trauma hospital, or would I be better off getting experience at a small community hospital first? There are advantages and disadvantages to both. I love the idea of waiting for a medflight helicopter in a trauma bay, but I don't want to drown either.

Thanks, I think I'm going to do both!

our level I trauma center does not take new grads- but we do and have had alot of success in the program! DF was actually a new grad when he came to the department. I know there is alot of controversay about taking new grads into a "specialty area" but I think it is really an individual thing , success depends on mostly how motivated someone is to be there! It certainly can be overwhelming-- make sure you will get a good comprehensive orientation-clinicall and class! We do 3 months of both, and it seems to work well- our new grads still dont do major room/trauma rooms until they are on their own for 3-6 months after they are out of orientation! So dont worry as long as they are prepared to take new grads I'm sure you wont drown-- and believe me there are days that I feel like I am drowning and I have been doing ED nursing for 14 years!

hth- be happy to answer any other questions!

Congratulations on your engagement!!!:goodvibes

You ring is beautiful. Totally wierd though. Im considering the same hairdo (I even have the same pic for my hairdresser) and I tried on all 3 of the dresses (#1 and #3 are my favs.)

Candy apples would rock as a favor.
