sapphire beach or Megan's Bay

We are planning on going to the beach at St. Thomas, but which is the better beach just for being on the beach. Do not plan to snorkel, just relax for the day. Does anyone know if either beach has chairs or umbrellas you can rent for the day. What about costs to get to either beach. I know Disney has an excursion to Sapphire beach, any information on that. Thanks so much for your help:

Maegins Bay will cost $6 per person each way for taxi plus $3 to get in (.50 for kids). Couldn't be easier to get back and forth.

It's beautiful.

It's also alot less expensive than a beach excursion booked through DCL.

Don't know Sapphire Beach to compare, but I'm a beach person and Maegins definitely fits the bill.

We've been to both on separate trips. I would choose Magans Bay. It is beautiful and if you get there early in the morning you'll have it all to yourself. Saphirre is just another beach in front of a hotel. It cost us $60 round trip for 4, but the beach is free. I can't remember how much the trip was to Megans but it was also a prettier drive.

We did the Sapphire Beach excursion this past August. It was a very well organized excursion and the beach was lovely. There were white plastic lounge chairs but umbrellas were not included. Maybe you could rent them but I'm not sure. The sandwiches provided were ok but nothing great and the shore line was a bit rocky when you first walked into the water.

Thanks for the info. I found the information on dcltribute and that was also helpful. I think it looks like we will go to Megan's Bay. We just want to relax on the beach and I believe that is the spot. Thanks again. Don't ya just love these boards?

When you get to Maegins Bay, hang a left and walk down the beach about 150 yards. It far less crowded and there are restrooms right there as an added bonus. You can walk even further and be virtually isolated.
