Santee, S.C. for a "stop over" ... advice?

Hi all ...

We'll be traveling good ol' I95 from NY to WDW this summer and were wondering if anyone has experience with Santee, SC. I read that Country Inn and Suites is pretty good ... any other thoughts/experience would be greatly appreciated! My DW and I will be traveling with my DD (9) & DS(4).

We frequently stop in Santee, SC I95 exit 98 - sometimes for the night & sometimes just to eat. We have spent nights at Clark's Inn, a nice, clean motel with a restaurant in front. We have eaten both breakfast & dinner at the restaurant. We usually find a coupon in the SC booklet for Clark's.

We just returned from a trip down I95 & there is a new Maurice's bbq at exit 98. They have an all you can eat buffet - I believe it was $7.95 for lunch & $8.95 for dinner. Plus we bought a case of their mustard bbq sauce. We use the sauce for marinating meats for outdoor grilling & in place of regular mustard on sandwiches, salads, etc. There are billboards on I95 advertising Maurice's. When you get to the exit there is a tall sign that says BBQ.

We are also considering Santee for an overnight on the way to WDW. When I tried to find the Country Inns and Suites listed on the Country Inns website, it was not listed. I called the Country Inns 800 number and they told me they no longer can book the Santee location. Does anyone know what happened?
