Santa Fe vs sequoia lodge

I went to Disneyland a couple of years ago and stayed at the sequoia lodge which was amazing, we travelled with a disabled child and they couldn't do enough for us.
We're going back to dlp in feb but as our eldest child is now called an adult...at 13... Obviously prices go up!
There's a decent discount if we stay at Santa Fe instead, we have stayed there before but quite a few years ago now. I appreciate its only somewhere to sleep and am quite happy with that, but I wondered if anyone had stayed there who needed a disabled room (assuming they have those?) and if so, what's it like?
Any other tips welcomed!

Thanks! Doesn't look like anyone can help though :confused3 even if its just the main differences between the two hotels?

I can't help at all with the disabled rooms or facilities at either hotel.

The main differences in the 2 hotels are -

Sequoia Lodge is slightly closer to the parks
Sequoia Lodge you are seated by a waiter for breakfast, at the Santa Fe you have to find your own table.
Sequoia Lodge has a swimming pool, Santa Fe doesn't.

Both have recently been refurbished :).

We didn't stay in SF, but have stayed in SL. I wouldn't stay in SL again. It's way overpriced. Or maybe it' just our bad experience. But at this point I wouldn't stay in SL again unless it's priced the same as Cheyenne. If you will definitely use pool, then maybe SL. I'm thinking of booking SF or Cheyenne for our next trip.

The Sequoia is my favourite hotel. I'd pick it over everything.

Points to keep in mind - the SF is in blocks. There are no lifts in the blocks so your room will be downstairs in one?? People sit and smoke on the benches outside the rooms - no windows open for me! The Sequoia has montana room and everything is accessible by lifts. Also remember in The SF, you will definitely need to leave your block for breakfast, which is not like the Sequoia where you are seated at the table. Its a free for all.

There is no air conditioning, but you have a ceiling fan, and just a small heater for winter. The Sequoia had air conditioning and its brilliant in winter for heat.

Its also nearer to walk to the village as the buses can get very busy from both hotels ;)

In fairness, I should point out that I always ask for a ground floor room when staying at the Santa Fe, and there aren't benches outside every window, or every block door either. I don't smoke, and have never been affected by cigarette smokers near my rooms at the Santa Fe.

I also think there is a lift in the main block (the one with more than 2 floors to it) at the Santa Fe.

The heaters in the Santa Fe and Cheyenne rooms keep the rooms toasty warm, and they are fully adjustable to whichever heat setting suits you best.

The block we stayed in last year at the Santa Fe had a lift in it. Others have covered the main differences but the heaters in the Santa Fe are more then adequate we had to turn the bathroom one off the whole time as it was way too warm in there and the room one was on the lowest setting and still warm even in the winter.

Over the 2 hotels I prefer the SL, not that I could fault the Santa Fe except the bar area, I hate it there (no atmosphere & not bar like)

Rooms will be slightly bigger in the SL:goodvibes

We have stayed in SL last year and again will be this year in September, our son is also disabled and we have an adapted room, its a Montana adapted room which are all in the main building, ours last year were just around the corner from reception which was great, they are 2 rooms really but just adapted and you obviously get the huge space with it with only the charge for 1 room, one side is a pretty normal Montana room and the other 'room' has a wet room/shower and bunk beds and a single bed, these adapted rooms can sleep up to 7 which is great if you have a large party.

The only other hotel we have stayed is the Disneyland Hotel which was nice but we really do like the Sequoia Lodge, it's got a great feel to it.

Good to know about some blocks with the lifts - parents with buggies will find this a massive help too!!

I'd be very surprised if there weren't any disabled rooms at the Santa Fe, I would have though all the hotels would have some.

Not all Disney hotels have adapted rooms, DLH certainly doesn't I know for sure, same for HNY.

Thanks all, only just seen these replies! I booked the Santa Fe in the end, as there was a £200 difference, might not seem a lot but money is quite tight and it's costing me just over £1500 for 3 nights as it is. I know they said we would be in the main block.
Bit gutted as the sequoia was perfect for us last time, I loved everything about it, but I have stayed in Santa Fe before, although it was about 8 years ago lol.
I didn't realise there wasn't a swimming pool in Santa Fe, that's sad, but having said that, my husbands face when I told him about the French rule about swimming trunks :rotfl2: might be a blessing for him!
Oh well, if I win the lottery I might upgrade us :rolleyes1
