I'm just so excited. Yesterday, my parents offered to help pay for our cruise, as a Christmas present to us. But, we had already paid in full. My parents didn't just want to give me the cash, because they knew it wouldn't go to anything fun.

So, they talked me into calling my TA and seeing about an upgrade. I was in category 9 and there were no good category 7 or 6 rooms available. So, now I'm in category 5! Wow! :earseek:

I'm so excited. I've always wanted a verandah room (dh and I are somewhat homebodies, so I can see us being in our room a bit more than most people.) With this upgrade, DH is finally excited about the trip! He was up with me last night, poring over my PassPorter.

I hope you all have as Magical day as I'm having!

:goodvibes

Queen Trident - CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! You will love the room with the verandah, there is nothing like getting up in the morning and going outside and just watching the sea go by. It really gives you a perspective on how big the world is.

Have a great Thanksgiving.

What a wonderful gift that was! I agree, you will love the verandah. It is great to go out there as soon as you wake up and see just how peaceful it is. The waves are mesmerizing to me. If you are lucky you just may see the dolphins when you are leaving the port.

Have a "wonder"ful time!

That must have been the best news! Very, very thoughtful on their part! Enjoy the verandah, and make sure you have a nice toast to their honor while out at sea!

Result! What a wonderful Christmas gift :)

Wonderful news. How thoughtful of your parents to come up with this idea.
I bet I know what your favorite Christmas gift will be this year.

Yeah, this gift was completely shocking and overwhelming. Now I have to rethink their gifts!! :)

I will be forever thankful to them for this opportunity. We will toast them every single night! They knew how much we truly needed it. I'm also glad they insisted on an upgrade, because I never would have accepted money (or, if I did, I never would have used it on ourselves).

Hmm...my in-laws alway like to keep up with my parents. (There is some major jealousy/competition there). Think I can get them to spring for the Category 3? ;)

You could include in their Christmas gift an "IOU" for a nice formal cruise portrait of your family. Get many shots taken and then get an 8x10 of the best one, you could pick out a nice frame at one of the ports and then they would always have a memory of how happy they helped to make you!
you will love the veranda btw, we are homebodies too and I spend a very large amount of time out there!

That's a great idea about the picture! I will definitely do that. Maybe I'll made DD3 and shirt that says "Thanks MaMa and PaPa!" and photograph her while she's on the verandah. At least that way, they'll know we're thinking about them.

When DS was around three I got one of those "talking picture frames" they have a button you push to record a message, once you have it correctly you save it and the person who gets the frame just pushes a button to hear your message. I took an old box and painted it white, cut a hole out for his head and had ds put the box on. I then put a bow on his head and made a sign for him to hold. It said Happy Birthday Pepe ( Jay's dad was turning 60) I then had Mike tape ( it took many many tries to get it right) Happy Birthday Pepe I love you. They still have the frame on their mantle and the tape still works seven years later. You could get a talking picture frame and take a picture of your daughter on the veranda. You could pretape the message at home. Something like thank you for the veranda it is great, wish you were here. Then put the picture in it.
I got the frame at walmart.
You can get the module on line and attach it to any frame.

Jenn that is wonderful. After all your rough times, sounds like that pixie dust is coming in by buckets. I'm so happy for you! Let me know your cabin number when you get it and I'll update the cruise list.

What a wonderful present from your parents. Now if the in-laws do keep up with the parents - why not put the money (if you get any) as a credit towards your stateroom account and you will have money to spend on the ship.

Ann - Great idea about the talking frame. I'll have to look for it.

BuzzBoyMom - In our cruise thread, I posted our my cabin number. Thanks!

JillJill - I would never expect this type of gift once, never mind again. That would be too much Pixie Dust for any one person!! :D But, the onboard credit is a great idea! We do a family gift swap with DH's entire extended family. Maybe, I'll give them that idea this year.

And what a great idea about the picture frame! Plus everytime you go to visit, you will able to enjoy it also!
