I don't believe Sanaa overlooks the savanna. If you mean you want to see the animals before or after dining at the viewing area, it really doesn't matter. They do feed the animals around 4:30, so they are likely to be out feeding more for the hour following that time.

Sanaa does look out over the savanna - I took several pictures of giraffe etc. while we were in the restaurant. The animals are taken in off the savanna between 9 am and 11 am every day to receive their dietary supplements and to be checked out for any problems.

I couldn't say for certain when would be a good time - the animals are unpredictable, but we ate lunch around 1pm and saw lots of activity and this was a hot day.

I think that the animal viewing from the restaurant gives it an edge over the other AKV restaurants. :thumbsup2

When I was on the sunset savannah (at Jambo in Oct. looking towards the Kidani lobby) the best animal viewing time was the hour before sunset. ( due to the feeding schedule there happened to be more animal activity, not sure if anything changed since construction in the sunset area is done)

We had dinner at Sanaa at 6:30pm and saw a lot of animals through the restaurant window near our table. Some of the windows have a wooden fence between the restaurant and the savanna. We happened to be on that side but it was still better to see animals through a fence than to not see any animals at all! And the animals can come in very close to the restaurant so you get a good view.

FYI: If you are hoping to get a table next to a window, you need to request it. I would add that request to the ADR and then mention it again when you check in.
