Sanford to WDW: I-4 or 417?

While I-4 is the major highway in the area, Route 417 runs very close to both Sanford International and WDW, and appears to be pretty straightforward, avoiding downtown Orlando. Is that a better route? If it is, where should I get off 417 to get to the Animal Kingdom/All-Stars area? Many thanks!

If you are travelling during off peak times, I-4 will probably be fine unless there is an accident (very common!). 417 is a toll road but carries much less traffic even during rush hours.

There are driving directions using 417 on Deb's site.

I've flown into Sanford and prefer using 417. In addition to what the previous poster said, there's a stretch of road (Lake Mary Blvd?) that takes you between I-4 and the airport that's got a lot of lights and potential congestion due to stores that are located along it. I despise stop and go traffic and try to avoid it whenever I can!;)

I would use the Central Florida Greeneway (SR-417) and get off at either exit 6 or exit 3.
