Sanford to Port Canaveral car rental

Mods please move to transportation forum if this is more suited there. We want to rent a car at Sanford airport arriving the day before our flight and drop the car off the next day at Port Canaveral before our cruise . We always drove for our previous cruises and have no experience with this. I understand there are shuttles from the car drop off place at the port (where ever that is) with shuttles to your cruise terminal. Anyone with experience that can weigh in on the best rental car companies from Sanford and how this worked out for you?

All the major car rental companies have locations near the port with shuttles to bring you to the ship. No reason to go with the closest as the shuttle ride from the furthest is only another 5 minutes or so.

Tip: when driving to the port, stop at the ship first and drop your luggage and the rest of your party. That leaves only the driver and their carryon to try to get on board the car rental shuttle bus. Just be sure the driver has their own boarding documents and id/passport.

How will this work with the Covid protocols in place at the port? I'm just wondering because I plan on doing the same thing in October.
