Is there much of a difference between the Sanford and the Intl airports distance-wise? A local carrier is offering low-priced direct flights to Sanford but I'm wondering if it would be easier and more convenient to spend the xtra $$ and fly to Orlando Intl.

We have always flown into Orlando but it almost always involves a layover in Atlanta or D.C.

Thanks in advance for feedback!

We used the Sanford Airport back in 01. We flew on Pan Am, had a great rate and the airport was 1.5 miles from our house, so we gave Sanford a shot. It's a nice, clean and much smaller than MCO. Drive wise, it's about a 35-40 minute ride compared to about 25 min. from MCO. From the time you disembarked from the plane at MCO, pick-up your luggage and then get your transportation to your hotel...well, you might just end up saving some time by using Sanford.

IMHO Sanford is the way to go. Very quiet but still busy enough. They have all the car rentals also. Very easy to jump on the toll way(417) that ends up in DWD. If I had the option I would fly into Sanford over MCO anytime.
