sanford airport

I would like to know from anyone, what is the Sanford airport like?We have flown into the Orlando airport before, but this is the first time we will be using the Sanford airport. How far is it from Disney World? Is it easy to get there?? Any comments will be appreciated.

I've no idea, sorry. You might try either on the Transportation Board (they are super duper smart over there), or on the UK CB, as a lot of the flights from the UK land at Sanford (I think)

I know that several DISers used Sanford airport for DIScon 2002. The only downside is that it is an hour drive (45 miles) from WDW to Sanford airport.

Sanford airport is A LOT smaller than MCO. Most of the charter flights from the UK land there.

We landed there in 1997 and got through the airport real fast. I think it was less than 40 minutes from landing to driving out with our Dollar rental car - and that was including going through imigration control etc.

The drive to International Drive area from Sandford is about 40 minutes - depending on whih route you take - I4 or Florida Greenway toll road.

I was one of the DISers that flew into Sanford in December, and as TC said just before, it's about a 45-50 minute drive from WDW, but it's a straight shot , all I4 for me, I drove and it was fine, no traffic and very easy to get to WDW.
The airport is smaller than MCO , but very easy to get around, I actually liked it better than MCO. Rental car agencies are right by the baggage claim area, companies like Avis, Dollar, Alamo, Hertz and National are right there, or outside the baggage claim area.

Hi Diane,

I just wanted to let you know that I found your post! Guess what? Our flights went back up to $199 before we could book them! I already arranged for the car rental so we are either going to bite the bullet and pay the $199 or try to find something right into MCO for the same price. Thanks for asking this question, though!
