sanford airport executive lounge/First Choice

I think I read somewhere that if you upgrade to premium seating with First Choice/Thomson then you get into the executive lounge at sanford airport free ........... does anyone know if this is correct or was I just dreaming?

Yes, that's correct. It's a really good lounge, very easy to relax in and lots of space. Lots of food and drink, newspapers, pc's, film room and area with sports on.

I thought I had read that somewhere though the travel agent said no yesterday !!

Your TA is definitely incorrect. All Premium passengers for the particular day are on a list held at the Royal Palm Lounge. You just present your boarding card at the RP desk, your name is checked against the list and you're allowed in. It's a very pleasant way to spend your last couple of hours.

Certainly might upgrade now if get that as well ......... we were thinking of paying for this lounge - thank you

Can I ask though, why do they give you free executive lounge at sanford but not at bristol where flying from???

We didn't know about the RPL first time we flew Thomson Premium - we'd pre-booked the lounge and on turning up at reception the RPL staff told us it was free and it wouldn't be charged to my credit card.

Not sure why the lounge access isn't both ways. Hazarding a guess many UK lounges have an over 12's policy which would mean quite a few premium travellers not being given access in that case.

We were flight only and it definitely wasn't in the website small print. It may be in the brochure if you've booked a package though? I know this was a FC 'perk' for Premium and when Thomson took over FC a couple of years ago they also adopted the free lounge access.

So because you were flight only did you still get the free executive lounge?

Yes - it came as a nice surprise in 2008 when we first flew with Thomsons. We knew what to expect in 2009 and marched straight off to the Lounge once we'd checked in.!

If it is not in the documentation, then how did you know about it? I am considering just walking up to them and showing them my FC premium ticket but don't want to feel like a loser when they "Your names not down so you're not coming in."
