Sanford airport car rentals

Well, it looked like I was going to save a bit of $ flying into Sanford via allegiant air, but the car rental prices are out of control! has anyone had good luck renting a car at sanford??? We are a family of 5, so either a midsize (tight squeeze) or a minivan would have to do...but the prices they are asking for are crazy! I rented an intermediate from alamo last september for 5 days using a coupon from entertainment, and it cost me around $100 total. At Sanford using a coupon from entertainment and using miscellaneous codes its over $300. I thought I was doing so well so far too
I would love an help or guidance that any might have!

Brenda, when are you going? In Aug., as your sig. says? IF so, I wouldn't worry too much. I think as it gets closer, rates will drop. I rented a minivan for a few days from Alamo at Sanford in December and did just as well as I would have at MCO.

Are you a Sam's Club member? If so, you can use their code at Thrifty car rental. They may ask to see your membership card when you pick up your rental. Anyway, I plugged in your dates and put in the Sams code. It came up $262.26 including taxes. This was for an intermediate car. Minivans were much higher (in the $330 or so range). It's funny that you posted this, because I just posted the exact same thing yesterday. If I happen to come across any good deals I will make sure I post them.

Hey, thanks! yes, I am a sam's club member. I've never rented from Thrifty, have you?? I've only rented from alamo, budget, dollar and national....

Your welcome. I have never rented from Thrifty. Perhaps someone else can give some advise about that.

I checked on Allegiant's website for car rentals. It wasn't too bad ($150), BUT it didn't include any taxes or fees. It said that it could be as high as $20 per day for that. It stated that Alamo collects that amount when you pick up your rental. HTH
