SANDISW's Summer Trip to BCV and BLT - Starts Tomorrow!!

Thanks for the great TR Sandi! We are heading down to BLT and Kidani next week, and reading about your trip has made the wait more bearable:lmao:

We are thinking about adding on again - we did the BLT tour/reception when we were there in March (and added on then as well), but aren't sure if we want to go through the whole presentation again. Do you remember what the current incentives were for BLT add-ons?

I tried getting in touch with my guide, but his email states that he is off on the Disney Dream until February:eek:

TIA

They didn't talk directly about the BLT price when we were there but for the other resorts, it sounded like it was $2.00 more per point than what is being reported at dvcnews.com.

We are only looking at a small add on so I didn't really pay attention to the points above the 50 point level.

We just loved the resort and know it is the place for us, if we had to be stuck there for the entire trip.

Hi Sandi - Great trip report! I don't know how I missed it (cause for some reason I remember your countdown ticker for the last few months) but I did!

So keep us posted about the add-on thing. I was laughing to myself b/c we stayed at BCV back in May and loved it, esp SAB and access to Epcot. DH said we didn't need any more points until we stayed there! :lmao: Long story short, I came home and started checking the resale sites for a small 100-point contract at BCV with the same UY. Wouldn't you know it, on same day I get notification there are 2 available 100-point contracts with our UY available - 1 at BCV and 1 at AKV (where we currently own). What to do, what to do?!?!? We ended up going with AKV for more points at our home resort. But a BCV add-on is definitely in our future (we'll probably wait 3-5 years)! Anyhow, I totally get where you are coming from. It's nice to have to make such a difficult decision... ;)

Glad you survived the heat and had a great time!

Now that we are home, we have gone back and forth on what to do. One thing that DH said is that he may not want to split stay in the future, especially if he does come again in the summer as having a "homeless" day is not for him, especially since he doesn't have a desire to hang out at the pool.

Since I don't have to make my reservations for next summer until September 7th, we figured we have some times to decide on the BLT piece as we keep our eyes out for a small BCV contrat. We have a June UY and those are hard to find. Although, there was a 25 point contract with a June UY at BLT for sale before we left and I hesitated on it. It was gone in a day.

He said that maybe we will try just BLT next summer, 1 bedroom for 5 nights and in that case, will be adding in the next few weeks direct with Disney for 30 - 50 points. I also have some extra 2010 UY points left that will be banked for next year so technically, I have enough to book and could even wait until January so I won't have to pay 2010 dues on the new points.

Since a few weeks ago he wasn't on board at all and now he is, I am going with his comfort level (since I would add on hundreds of points if I could!!!).

I will definitely keep everyone posted on when it happens!!! Having the Disney Visa and knowing I can take 6 months to pay for it helps a great deal since I use my pay from college teaching to cover vacations and this could allow me to buy now but not have to completely pay until the end of the fall semester.

;) You looked exactly like I pictured--dark headed and atheletic. I always enjoy your posts and often think you have to be on the DIS as much as me. I imagine it is a bit of a hobby for you too helping others with their DVC or WDW plans. I am hoping to use points for a trip in the Spring and then again in the fall next year. DH will HAVE to want to add on then, right??

He was all gung ho for AKV only until he saw the THVs. I now find myself shopping for an add-on for us at AKV or SSR and then in the back of my head keeping up with prices for when my BIL decides to purchase DVC. Buying DVC vicariously through others....we enjoy watching you and your DH spending money. ::yes::

I loved your trip reports. We were in room # 7704 at BLT last December and I really considered it a MK view also. It was wonderful to sit on the balcony and watch the park and the lake "wake up" in the morning. And the music from MVMCP went on till late night on one of our nights, so I enjoyed sitting outside listening to it. We also had a 1BR, while my sister and brother-in-law had a studio on the inside of the building. We definitely had the better room and view.

I need to get my next trip planned. Still debating between BLT and AKV-KV. We split the trip last year and I really liked both.

Terri
