Sandcastle Club a good option?

I am in a fortunate situation in that my husband 'won' a trip to Disney with accomodations at Yacht club in April and I get to accompany him for just the cost of airfare. :cool1:

We just made our first family trip to Disney three months ago with our DD 6 and DS 4. So now this oportunity comes up to go again and we are debating whether we should take the kids along or not. (we would have to pay for them..but still quite the deal).

The only problem is there would be some evening engagements that DH and I would need/want to go to and couldn't bring kiddos along.

We were thinking about bringing a bbsitter along, but then I realized that paying her airfair, admission, food was most likely going to cost us more than taking the kids (even nightly --4 nights) to the Sandcastle club.

I guess I need reassurance that that would be a good plan? Would it be worth it? Or would you suggest getting in-room bbsitter with the fairy godmothers or other group?

Finally, the last trip my kids were crazy to SWIM in the pool....so I was wishing there would be an option to allow them to do that- but I spose that wouldn't work with teh sandcastle club?

I'm full of questions, aren't I?

Hi,
My DD5 loves the sandcastle club.....although she hasn't met a kids
club in WDW that she didn't like;)

I would feel confident leaving them there for a few hours easy....

Never used the in-room sitter....my DD is an only child so she wants
to play with other kids.

As for swimming.....I doubt the babysitter would take the kids swimming...
sounds like a liability issue.
have a great trip

My DD has been to Simba's (AKL, twice)
Cub's Den (WL, twice)
Camp Dolphin (Dolphin, 3 times)
Sandcastle (once)

I want to be honest with you and tell you that she liked Sandcastle the least BUT it was the longest we left her there ( over 4 hours, we went to Party For The Senses at Epcot.) Her all time favorite is Camp Dolphin, which is walking distance from Y&BC. Miss Thelma works there 5 or 6 nights a week and we ADORE her. If you call to make a reservation and talk to a woman with an island accent, that's her! My DD begs to stay there.

Anyway, it probably was an off night at SC club. There was nothing "wrong" with the place, and if it is convenient for us to do it, we would leave DD there again. I just wanted to let you know about Camp Dolphin nearby.

I think your kids would enjoy a kid's club much more than in room babysitting.

Congrats on winning the trip! I am so jealous!
