We are thinking about going to a sandals resort for our 15th anniversary. Has anyone been to one? Any tips? Did you like it or should be look at something else?

Thanks!

Check out Couples resorts in Jamaica... More inclusions and less of a class system. Would go back in a heartbeat!

We spent our honeymoon at the grand st Lucien. Loved it! Just about everything on site is included. They have three resorts on at Lucia that you can go to. I loved every minute of ot. I loved the people who live on the island. Very friendly and even when we were off resort we felt safe

We stayed at the Dunns River Jamaica one 11 years ago for our honeymoon. Worth every penny.

We stayed at the sandals in Antigua 16 years ago and the resort was BEAUTIFUL.The only issue was the beach was not owned by sandals so we had many people coming up to us selling shirts and jewelry. However the biggest problem was constantly being asked to get drinks and food and being told come on its free! We ended up spending most of our time at the pools instead. We loved the food and entertainment and enjoyed meeting many other fun couples and NO KIDS insight:)

DH and I go every year.
We've been to most. If u have any questions feel free to PM me.

DH and I stayed at Royal Caribbean in Jamaica three years ago and loved it. It is one of the smaller resorts and had a private beach which was nice. We did visit the other resort in the area; they had shuttles all day long. I thought the food was very good; frozen drinks were awesome and i don't really drink. I sat on the beach, DH did many of the activities. DH does not like to travel, but goes just to suffice me. He loved everything about this resort. it also had a private island which was cool too. We will definitely do another sandals again.

When my daughter got married I stayed at Beaches Sandy Bay Negril. I loved it, service was incredible, "NO PROBLEM MAN". A few years later I remarried and we spent our honeymoon at the Grand. We still can't get over the service.
We could sit in the lobby at night an just enjoy the people, some dressed for dinner some casual. It on a straight with the bay on one side and the ocean on the other. Alway a gentle breeze.

During the day we would lay on the beach, walk over to sports shop sign out a Hobby Cat and sail on the bay. Sign up for snorkeling and spend the afternoon chasing tropical fish.

I don't want to forget with two other resorts near by you have more wonderful dining options.

With all of these wonderful replies, I think the hardest part is going to choose which one to go to!

I have traveled to every sandals resort at least once. It is an excellent chain. If you tell a bit more about likes, dislikes, I can give you more advice. Or feel free to PM me.

We are pretty easy people. We like relaxing vacations but also like to do thing and see things. We enjoy good food, dancing etc. We like to have fun.

We usually like to cruise and have seen many of the Caribbean islands.

Great thread. my husband and I just agreed to do a week without the kids next summer and we were looking at Sandal's resorts. Awesome to hear they are worth the $$

Agreed! We've done Couples Negril and Couples Swept Away. Would recommend and go back to both in a heartbeat! From what I hear they are less expensive and more inclusive than the Sandals resorts.

Stayed at the Sandals Regency La Toc for our honeymoon back in 04 and loved it. Best thing about the St Lucian Sandals is that the 3 resorts are close enough together that they are easy to travel between so you can use their facilities and restaurants as well. I think they still call it Stay At One, Play At 3. While we were there Gordon “Butch” Stewart, the chairman and founder stayed at our resort. Figured if the chairman stayed there it was good enough for us :)

One day we traveled up to the Sandals Grande St. Lucian and spent most of the day on the beach and one night we went to the Sandals Halycon for dinner. We ate at what is now Kelly's Dockside (think it might have been called something else at the time), it's the restaurant that's over the water. We were there right before sunset and the photographergot some great shots of us with the sun setting.

Another day we did a tour of the island. We did the Land and Sea tour. They took us down to Soufrie in a tour bus making some stops on the way including a fishing village, the drive through volcano, and lunch. To get back we took a catamaran which included a stop for snorkling.

Hoping to go back one day

Sounds almost like our honeymoon. March of 04', we stayed at the Grande. I had stayed at a Beaches a couple of years earlier and sign up for their rewards program. We received a room upgrade and a special dinner. The reason I mentioned this is they honored returning guest. So many had been over 10 time. I believe it's the staff. We really felt so welcomed.
