Sand in loops?

Just wondering how messy sand gets from your loop area and into your camper, pup or tent? We're in loop 1500 with a pup and I see broom and dustpan being our friend in January. Any thoughts or experiences on keeping inside sand free? TIA!

We always keep a rug outside of our trailer and have a chair and a tote there for shoes. Just having people remove their shoes stops a lot of the dirt from coming in, I also have area rugs in my trailer and have a little vacuum that I use often. With those steps the inside tends to stay pretty sand free even when staying at the beach.

I'd be interested to hear any tips on this. The sand was a surprise for me when we stayed in August. We tracked it inside a lot and had to sweep constantly. No pets, just 6 people :) This was at the 1600 loop.

Definitely not a deal breaker. Our 2nd trip is already planned for next summer, we just know better now.

Do you bring the tote inside? I would worry about critters getting inside my shoes if I left them out.

Our tote is actually a locking tote, so it's pretty heavy duty with a lid, we fold our rug up in it and carry it that way, so I am not really worried about anything getting in it. If worried about critters you could get one of the rubbermaid type ones that has a lid that fastens on.

As far as critters we once made the mistake of bringing our corn hole set and the kids left the bean bags outside (they are filled with corn) and the squirrels had some fun with those.

I go to Lowes and buy 1 or 2 10x10 pieces of outdoor rug. it is very light and folds up small for storage. They were $19.95 the last time I bought one, they really help with the coquina (not really sand) that is at all the sites except Premium.

We use a camping mat (9 x 12), it allows sand to fall through so you don't track it into the camper or tent.

A mat / rug is a necessity. Broom, vacuum, Swiffer. Make sure everyone takes their shoes off. We even wipe the dogs feet off. But it still gets in the motorhome. I bring a leaf blower with me and blow off the outdoor area everyday. You will still have some. Its like Pixie dust to me though. We get home and go camping to our local campgrounds and I find it on the rug. Makes me miss it even then........

41 Days 2 Hours 46 Minutes and counting. Can't Wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Personally, I look at the sand as I do any other "Dirt". It's a part of life. When you walk out side you track outside stuff, inside. A broom and dust pan are in our camper. Even our 27' camper is less than a 5 minute "Sweep" to clean it out of sand, dirt, etc....

We don't leave our shoes outside, but we do have "Mats" to walk on and take our shoes off when we get inside. We just roll with it. As long as the sand isn't getting into my bed (or other "Sensitive" locations), I don't worry too much about it.

I agree with Mike/Corgidad. A good rug or door mat outside, aggressively used by all, helps tremendously. Our rule was for kids no shoes in the camper because we had a popup and the kids would climb into the beds with their shoes on and Nothing.Is.Nicer.Than.Coquina.In.Your.Bed.Sheets. :sad2:

We also have a broom in the camper that gets used frequently.
