I'm trying to figure out the logistics of getting things down and back from Disney. I plan to carry on my toasting flutes and sand ceremony vases but - coming home, since the vases will be filled with sand (and we all know how strict the rules are now of flying) - I'm figuring I cant carry on vases with colored sand in them. Checking them will be a disaster. What have other brides done in the past? UPS?

TIA! :goodvibes

I carried my full sand ceremony vase on the plane, it was in a little box. It was in my hands the whole time. I did not have an issue with the TSA screening at Orlando airport.

Are any of your guests driving down? We are flying but some of DF's family is driving, so we are going to ask them to bring down and bring back up breakables as well as anything that is too big to put in our suitcases.

Why not ship it down/back Fedex or UPS? They ship fragile items all the time and you wouldn't have to worry about packing it or carrying it on.

I had mine in my carry-on bag along with my bouquet and they both made it home without any issues.

TSA has issues with liquids, so your sand should be fine. My WP stuffed my face so tightly with tissue paper that my vase was laying down in the box in my carryon all the way home and the sand didn't budge.

Wow, great! Yea, if I couldn't bring it back via airplane I would have shipped it but now that Ive heard many of you have flown back with it, my mind is at ease :goodvibes

I do have some family members who are driving down from NY so that could have been an option, but I'd rather keep it in my safe keeping :)

Does anybody know whether there are issues with flying trans-atlantic with full containers of sand?

I'm so glad somebody asked this question! I was wondering the same thing. Now I am just going to carry it with my in my carry-on bag. :thumbsup2

You will go through the same security sceening at Orlando Airport as everyone, there isn't any special screening of international flights nor is there a separate terminal for international flights, so it should be the same.
