Sanaa - Vegetarian reviews?

I've heard that this place has a vegetarian and vegan menu. Anyone try it? What did you think?

I didn't try it, but unti you get other answers I'll share my experience.

I ate at Sanaa last week and it was the best meal of my trip. I had the appetizer trio, which consisted of potato & pea samosas w/a fruit salsa, roasted cauliflower that sat on a bed of tomato sauce and lamb kefta (which, of course, you wouldn't want). The food was fantastic! You can order the samosas and cauliflower as individual appetizers to avoid getting the lamb kefta.

Also, their naan (bread) was the best I've ever had. They make it fresh and each slice covers an entire plate. I could have eaten just that and been happy!

Hopefully you'll get some reviews from actual vegetarieans, but the veggie options I had were great!

As someone who cooks Indian food all the time - I would say the food is good. If you are expecting Indian food - it is cooked a little differently with an African flair. It is worth trying for sure. Our naan bread could have been better - it was rather brittle. Overall, we were happy with it but wouldn't say it was over the top amazing. Just good.

Thanks! How was the atmosphere? Any good animal viewing areas for the kids? How did this place compare to Jiko or Boma, if you tried those as well?

Thanks, good to know. Indian food is our favorite and is something we eat all the time. We're looking for the best ethnic places to dine in for our trip (Indian, Thai, Japanese, etc.).

Yup...we've been to all three! I actually like all three, but they are different. IMO, Sanaa is unique in that it offers Indian flavors. Boma and Jiko are pretty strictly African so Sanaa offers something different. We enjoy Boma and Jiko as well, but Sanaa is now at the top of our list.

The atmosphere at Sanaa is lovely. There are large windows that overlook the savannah so you should see lots of animals. I saw giraffes, zebras and several kinds of antelope/cattle breeds. Comparing it to Boma and Jiko again I'd have to say that Sanaa is unique. Jiko offers the upscale experience and Boma offers the casual buffet experience. Sanaa is also casual, but offers those savannah views (something I think they dropped the ball on when creating Boma & Jiko) in a lovely setting.

As for the naan...the very center of my piece was crispy, but the edges were thick and soft...sort of like pizza dough that has been stretched thinner in the center and is thicker around the edge. I hope that is the norm and that the previous poster's just got a bad piece.

We really liked Pei Wei. It is an off site restaurant (casual) and found it to be really good. We do not have a Pei Wei in Canada so it was something very unique. You might like it!

Ooh, I'm going to google that right now! We're staying off site, so I'll have to see if that's near us! Thanks!
