Hey guys! I'm going to Disney in January and we plan on visiting Animal Kingdom Lodge for the first time ever. I am SO excited but we can't decide if we should eat at Boma or Sanaa? I've read good things about both and they both look pretty good....your thoughts?

Sanaa is a very specific cuisine, and reviews are constantly favorable IF you enjoy Indian/African spices and textures. I love Boma, and I actually did dinner 2x last year: lots of variety, some unique items, and some very familiar items! I really think you are choosing between two winners, and just have to figure the style of dinner you want...plated and quiet, with animal views (if during daylight,) and specific menu, or more active, buffet, with soups, salads, carved meat, mains, dessert assortment.

BTW, there are animal viewing areas at both hotels, so that should not be a deal breaker...wander outside at your leisure.

I have heard great things about both too. For Sanaa, it is often recommended to do it at lunch or an early dinner while it is still light outside and you can see the animals. Since we have picky eaters, we will be going to Boma this November. Can't wait to try it out!

We've never dined at Boma, as we're not buffet fans in general but Sanaa is one of our consistent favorites. Their food is delicious and exceedingly well done and you can't beat dining with a view of the animals on savannah. If you go be sure to try the amazing bread service and all of their stewed dishes are excellent.

I would go with Sanaa hands down. All of the buffets are ridiculously expensive and while many rave about Boma, I don't think it is as good as all that. Plus, it is usually pretty loud, there is no view, and it is pretty dark. By all means, go to that part of AKL and enjoy the overlook at the savannah but eat at Sanaa. Their bread service alone is worth going there - huge and easy to share.

We've eaten at both a few times and I definitely prefer Sanaa, but mostly because I really prefer a true TS experience over a buffet. Sanaa has great food and really good cocktails, too!

Boma is great. Do you want a sit down meal with a limited menu or a buffet with a lot of options? That is the main decision. We have ate at both and Boma is far superior in taste. But for supper will cost more

It may also depend on the size of your party. Boma as a buffet takes care of many styles of eaters. We did Boma several times when my son was younger but now that he is older we try different things as Sanaa. We'll be back there this summer.

In terms of food quality I give Sanaa the advantage (some of that is just made to order vs buffet). Sanaa generally has discount opportunities for Disney Visa which makes a difference though I think the discounts have expanded recently.

Both are awesome! Our two favorite restaurants on property. For dinner, we prefer Sanaa. The breakfast buffet at Boma is very good.
