We have a quick 2 day trip before our March DCL cruise, mostly to see GE. However, we've also never been to AK. We're planning to spend the whole first day at DHS, since we've never seen GE or TSL. Then the second day we were hoping to split between AK and Epcot. My kids (6&8) want to have lunch at Sanaa (a friend loved it). Can we walk? Does it take too much time out of the day given our limited timing? Do we have to go through security twice if we leave for lunch?

Just trying to figure out what is worth it.

We took the bus from AK to AK lodge for lunch at Sanaa, then ubered back to our resort. Did not take long at all. Don't think it is walkable.

I would make it your break I’m between parks. So morning at AK, bus to AK Lodge (which will only take a few minutes), eat at Sanaa, then bus from there to Epcot.

Personally I’d recommend, if you’ve never seen AK, you spend the whole day there and not bother with Sana’a. I like it, but I wouldn’t leave the park for it. I’d recommend doing Pandora at rope drop (if you can’t get FP), lunch at Satuli, and then enjoy the rest of the park. It’s my second favorite park, after MK. Everest is my favorite ride in WDW (but I haven’t been to GE yet).

I also love AK--but also love Sana'a. I think it is worth (given the short bus hop) taking a break for lunch there. Then you can decide if you really want to go over to Epcot or have more you want to do at AK.

Last trip, we spent a full day at AK, left to have lunch at Saana and returned to continue our visit to the other half of AK.
The bus only takes about 10-15 minutes so that's how we traveled. The lunch was a nice a/c'd respite from the heat and eating while viewing animals was fun.

AK is probably the biggest of the 4 parks so I take care to book our FPs in a manner that keeps us from running up and down the place. We did all Asia and Africa rides and exhibits before lunch and Pandora after.

I'd take a look at the AK map, figure out what your must-dos are and plan out your day accordingly. I don't think there are sidewalks to walk over to AKL from AK so wheeled transport is the way to go.
Yes, you will have to go through security twice so try to keep the amt of stuff you carry to a minimum. If you carry no bags you can go straight through to the MB area.

You might want to consider making AK a full day park and do Epcot and HS the second day since those two are closer to each other.

Have fun!

I'm doing a lunch at Sanaa too, and from what I've read, there is no walkway from AK to the AK Lodge.

I love Epcot, but I would skip it and do the whole day at AK. I think a half day at AK would be really disappointing

There is no way to walk, and you wouldn't want to if there was. AK is HUGE. It's a quick bus trip and the food is well worth it IMO.

We've left AK for Sanaa lunch and came back. Sanaa is worth it. To leave AK to go to Sanaa, you will need to go through security to get back into AK. No walkway, bus ride is quick. I highly recommend rope dropping the rides at Avatar otherwise it would take up a good chunk of your day. We did most of what we wanted to do before lunch, and left the park early that day. If you want to go to Epcot after lunch you can and should; Rivers of Light nighttime show is underwhelming and Illuminations is leaving after next week. Get a FP for Illuminations. The view is so close cast members had to rope off a section to prevent guests from any residual firework residue.

AK is my favorite park. This trip I am taking my friend on his first trip ever. I booked Sanaa because I have enjoyed eating there before and I know it will be a hit with him. I am also squeezing MNSSHP that day. So while normally AK is a full day for me, I plan on us visiting for a couple of hours on arrival day before MNSSHP and then again at rope drop on departure day. But I am still 'stealing" time to head over to Sanaa. I do think it's worth it doing!
