San Juan Hotel

Rates were so much higher for my dates a year ago! (12/12-12/17)

The sweet spot was actually early November. Alas I booked mid. :)

El convento didn't even have any bookings a year out. They started maybe around march and it was in the 400s, and bottomed in the high 100s (just under 200) in early Nov. embassy was as low as 134 at one point. Sheraton OSJ had a suite solidaky under 200. Was pretty cool.

I'd lock something down but make sure it can be changed, then keep checking back.

Not sure how dates in the runup to Xmas compare to January, but maybe my experience isn't unique.
Good idea. I'm thinking of booking Saturday night with points and on return, just paying for Sunday night. It appears there may be a huge difference depending on the night of the week.

Heads up that uber is kinda odd here. They cannot and will not pick you up just anywhere, and their "pins" that show you their pickup spots aren't necessarily accurate. It's ok, no biggie, just worth knowing that you might have to walk a little ways to meet them if the pin isn't right.

Walked by el convento today. Oh so beautiful.

And the pina colada at Barrachina (?) was hands down the best I've had.

For part of our honeymoon years back we stayed at Cervantes Hotel right in OSJ- it's actually right behind the Sheraton. It had gorgeous big rooms, awesome bathrooms and ours included a balcony overlooking OSJ. It's a boutique hotel, like most in OSJ, so no pool or anything like that.

This coming trip in April/May we'll have our two small children in tow. We were either going with Sheraton OSJ (for the pool & location), Hilton Caribe, or Marriott in Condado. I liked what the Caribe had to offer best for having kids, but I hate the location (we like a city feel) and the "beach" is hardly that. So I decided on the Marriott in Condado since the beach is so nice and there's tons of restaurants, shops, grocery stores all within walking distance.

BUT THEN I checked Airbnb & VRBO and found a ton of great options with kitchens, pools, playgrounds, etc. Decided on an awesome 2 bedroom condo directly on the beach for less than the bottom of the barrel single room at Marriott. It'll be so nice with a 1 year old and 2 year old to put them to bed in their own room and be able to enjoy the rest of the night in the living room or on the balcony. Let alone making their meals in the condo. Just thought I'd pass it on...

We have booked the Caribe Hilton. We typically prefer boutique hotels, but the price and location seem great and got a good deal including breakfast so we can save the hassle of where to eat in the morning.

We currently have the InterContinental reserved in Isla Verde. Has anyone on this thread stayed here before?

We stayed there after our WB Transatlantic in 2014 and absolutely loved it! It's a gorgeous hotel with an amazing pool, right by the beach! One of my favorite hotels of all time.

There is a chinese food restaurant walking distance from the hotel that we just happened across. It looks like a hole-in-the-wall, but the food was phenomenal (and we're foodies). It's called Yamiko Sushi (it's on Yelp). :)
