San Juan Excursions from 10/01/02

Hurricane Lili diverted our Western Caribbean cruise in 2002 - the following information regarding the San Juan excursions MAY NOT BE the same as what Disney will be offering during their special cruises of 2004.

I am just putting this up to give those of you who are cruising an idea of what was available and what MIGHT BE available for your cruise -

1) New and Old San Juan Tour
2.5-3 hrs
$25/20
Bus and walking tour through Condado and Islaverde section of New San Juan; San Cristobal Fort, El Morro Castle and historical monuments of Old San Juan.


2) El Unque Rainforest Tour

One hour bus ride outside San Juan to Rainforest - 45 minute walking tour through Palo Colorado, Bus to Yohaku Observation Tower and La Coca Water Falls.

3) Bacardi Rum Distillery Tour
2-2.5 hrs
$19/12
20 minute bus ride to Bacardi Corporate Plant, view brewing process and a sample of rum along with gift shop and museum.

4)Ocean Trail Rides at Palmas del Mar
(AGe 10 and older)
3.5 - 4 hrs
$75
1 hour bus ride to hacienda Buena Vista where horses are assigned and basic instruction given. Ride into and along the shores of the Caribbean while seeing the natural beauty of Puerto Rico's south shore.

5) Mountain Bike - Pinones
(12 and older)

25 minute bus ride to "Boca de Cangrejos" Bridge where you will meet with guides - bikes, helmets and safety instructions given before a 10 mile round trip. Flat terrain with slight incline through mangrove trails and quick swim in the ocean is offered. Towels and bottle of water provided.

6) Kayak-Espiritu Santo
(12 and older)

45 minute bus ride to Espiritu Santo River and FishermanVillage where you meet your guide and get instruction. Excursion concludes at Coco Beach, water and soda provided. 2 person kayak.

7) Snorkel and Party Boat
(10 and older)

Hour bus ride to Fajardo whree you board a 46 foot boat for a 10 minute ride to the island. Snorkel gear provided - 1/5 -2 hour snorkel and swim. All snorkel gear along with water, soda, beer, snacks and towels are provided.

There is a mall attached to the dock where you can buy alcohol cheap - especially rum. There is also a casino just a little walk from the dock.

I hope this is of some help to those of you lucky enough to get there. Some of those who were there with us thought the excursions were great and may se this thread and give more information about individual tours.
