My family is booked on the Aug 21st 7-day Eastern Caribbean Cruise.

Since we have a six month old (or at least she will be at the time of the cruise) we are looking for excursions the whole family can participate in.

For St. Thomas we choose the Coral World excursion (looks like fun) but haven't been able to find anything on San Juan.

We are not interested in leaving little Sarah at Flounders so maybe we will just try to explore the island on our own.

Perhaps some beach time, a leisurely stroll, or shopping for souvenirs will be the way we spend our day.

If anyone has any suggestions please chime in.

Hi Pinclubs,

Check out www.threecircles.net. Choose the option for the September 4th cruise. There will be a listing of the official DCL excursions for San Juan on that page. Hopefully, you will be able to find one that accomodates your group. Have a good time!

When you dock at San Juan you will be right at Old Town. There is shopping galore, you can do a city walking tour, there are old fortresses and castles that you can tour on your own--you can walk along the ocean from one to the other, you can tour the Bacardi rum factory--a short ferry boat ride, there are old hotels, churches, the governors home, a former convent, museums, and it is just fun to walk around and go from one side--the port--to the other. There are several local restaurants that are very good--there is a park where you can sit and enjoy watching everyone go by. There is even a trolley that you can hop on if you get tired. So you can find plenty to do!!

You can even ride the bus out of old town and use the beaches. It is real cheap and you would get to see the "real" San Juan. You can take a taxi too--rates are posted on the sides of the cabs. If you go to Isla Verde, there is a path between hotels and condos that takes you to the public beach. There are places to eat and local vendors right on the beach. I am sure there are other public beaches like that that aren't as far out also, just know about this because we stayed out there several years ago.

I'm sure dcl will have tours for the rum factory and old town, but you can really do those on your own and for a lot less money. Plus, you can stop at your leisure to meet your daughter's needs.

Try these websites for more info:

There is also a rain forest--but you would need a backpack carrier for your little onel, and it is probably about an hour bus ride away. There is a neat beach out by the rainforest that dcl might have a tour to, sorry I can't remember the name.

Hope this helps. I really think you would enjoy exploring Old San Juan on your own as well as the rum factory--it has an interesting story.

Pinclubs, we are on the 8/21 sailing also. Come and visit us on the Cruise Meets board. We have many fellow Dis'ers on the 8/21 sailing.

PinClubs,

I will also be cruising that week with my then 6 month old daughter, Emilie!!! Haven't signed up for any excursions this time around. In St. Thomas we'll go Megans' Bay Beach, via taxi. we were there two years ago and it was awesome. I was tempted to do the excursion in San Juan that takes you to the NICE hotel by the beach with the BIG pool, but it's very expensive for what it is....
