Has anybody gone to San Juan? Tim and I are thinking of getting away for a 4 night/5 day trip in May. I didn't want to be in a plane forever so I thought San Juan would be close enough and yet be tropical enough.

Any thoughts??

Thanks in advance :thumbsup2

We rented a house on Vieques - beautiful secluded island -part of Puerto Rico.

And we stayed at the Wyndham El Conquistador Resort - they own a private beach island Just for guests.

We picked Puerto Rico for the same reason you are - the travel time.

Have a great time! :thumbsup2

Thanks WALLY.

The El Con looks HUGE - is it as spread out as it looks? Also, how close to the airport?

I was looking at the Inter Continental. It looks nice and is close to the airport.

Agh - I have no idea what to do.

I didn't think the El Con was to big - But it is on the other side of the island - they offer a shuttle. Pluse they have a golden door spa. :thumbsup2
I've heard great things about the Inter Continental.

We were there for one day on a cruise - but would definitely go back for a long weekend. Old San Juan was great. I recommend that you take a 2 hour segway tour with segway tours of PR. This was one of the highlights of our last vacation. My boss went and stayed at the Ritz in San Juan and she had an amazingtime.

"Shark Girl: I want to go back to San Juan
Anita: I know a boat you can get on!"

Gotta love West Side Story.

Sorry, pay no attention to the crazy person with the giant musical CD collection.

My partner and I were in San Juan the first week of January - and loved it. The Intercontinental seemed nice, but we stayed at the Ritz. You can get some incredible deals at the Ritz, if there isn't a convention in town. Its worth giving it a shot, because (at least from what we saw) its much nicer than the Intercontinental (which is nice, nonetheless).

We decided, after much research and a lot of talking to others, to stay at the Rio Mar. I thought the Ritz would be great too - but a lot of the reviews seemed negative so, we switched to the Rio Mar. It is a Wyndham resort and we have stayed at their resorts before. They are also running a huge "stimulus" package - buy 2 nights get 2 nights free. So, we are staying in an ocean front clean air room with a $100 resort credit and a 25% off spa services for only $810 (includes all taxes and resort fees). Not bad for 4 nights. We also booked with Jet Blue and from NJ to San Juan round trip for two came to $649 and change - also not bad.

Anyway, May is a long way away so knowing me, I will change this all - LOL!

at least it's booked - have fun planning. I still highly recommend the segway tour in OSJ:thumbsup2

We are going to research the Segway tour - thanks!

We did the Segway tour in Epcot in January and LOVED it - so much fun!

Any chance ya might take a few pics while you're there, post 'em for us, maybe a mini-trip report?

OMG, this is pathetic, I'm beggin' folks to post
