I have 1 day at Universal and 3 days at Disney planned. Those are pretty firm. That leave 1 day open.

I love animals but I'm out of shape for a great deal of walking. Would you opt for the zoo or the wild animal park? (For the life of me I can't figure out the difference between them anyway.) Which one is less walking?

Maybe I should try to do something uniquely Californian like trying to get tickets for a The Price is Right taping or something.

Experienced and inexperienced opinions welcome. :)

Both the zoo and wild animal park requires lots of walking. The difference is that the wild animal park have no cages. Just open space. Birds fly free in large avaries including the condors.

Ssan Diego Zoo is more of a hike than a walk.;)

I went to the SD Zoo in February and really enjoyed it. It is very hilly which I didn't know when I initially made the plans. This worried me as I'm not big on hills. However, it turned out to be just fine. You can get a ticket that includes use of an internal zoo bus and skyway. The skyway takes you from one side of the zoo to the other. The bus has five bus stops around the zoo. There are also moving sidewalks that go from the lowest point in the zoo to some of the highest. We ended up only having to walk up one hill and even that could have been avoided. There is also a double decker bus tour that takes you past some of the major exhibits and gives you a good overview of the zoo. I think we walked just as much here as at DL, but not more.

The Zoo and the Wild Animal Park are both excellent! The Zoo requires much more walking than the WAP. The WAP has a good amount of walking, but it's centralized, and the tram tour is really where the park shines. The bird show at the WAP is outstanding.

I would recommend against a TV show taping. As I've been to many of these, they often gather more people than they need so that they can ensure that the house is full of people. Unfortunately, this leaves some people out of luck, especially on popular shows. So, there's no guarantee you will get in, which I can't say would be fun.

The WAP and the Zoo is a good 1 1/2 hour + drive depending on what day you're going and at what time. Do not try and drive there at 7:30 a.m. on a weekday. You'll be in a horrible mood by the time you get there.

However, I do know that Universal frequently solicits their guests to attend tapings, and even provides transportation from the park.

I should also mention that most tapings occur during the week, and sitcoms and the like occur around Thursday or Friday. The show tapings are seasonal, so you might miss most of them altogether anyway.

I use http://www.studioaudiences.com/ to go to shows.

Good luck!
