Looking for a 4star hotel in San Diego or near:
which would you say are the most kid friendly....pools, clubs (activities) etc.. but still nice for parents (and grandma).
Some that i looked at don't seem to have much onsite dining, what do you do for breakfast (especially if you do not want a sit down meal every morning.)?

Our points of interest are: Legoland, SD Zoo, a Padres game the beach and some pool/spa time !!

Legoland is fairly far away, with traffic, but not bad without. It pretty much takes a car to get there.

Downtown is probably where you want to stay. There are nice business hotels very near the stadium. You can also tour an aircraft carrier and the zoo is very close.

If you want to stay on the beach look into the Hotel Del Coronado, it has the beach for the kids and the hotel for everyone else.

Also consider Paradise Point resort. It is resort like and not hotel like. It requires a car for everything. But it has lots of pools and fountains and a little marina.

You might want to look at La Costa in Carlsbad. Very close to Legoland and the beach. Beautiful hotel that's VERY kid friendly.

You might look at Loew's Coronado Bay resort, also. I have a friend who stayed their a couple of years ago and got an awesome deal with Hotwire, and she and her 10-year-old son loved it.

The Manchester Grand Hyatt has a great pool:cool1:.DH & I usually walked over to Seaport Village which is next to the hotel and grabbed breakfast at a Cafe there or else we got muffins etc. from the hotel's 2 coffee shops(they are more like in-house Starbucks).I saw signs for activities for kids but did pay attention to the details
You have about a 15 or so minute walk to the Padres stadium and the restaurants in the Gaslamp. You can take public transit or a cab up to the Zoo.(my vote would be for a cab, it would be quicker the buses etc.)

Agree with the Del. It's a great hotel and right on my favorite beach. On "mainland" the Marriott Hotel and Marina is really nice. The pool is insane and they have a fun waterfall/cave feature the kids might like.
