Has anyone ever stayed at Humphrey's Half Moon Inn in San Diego on Shelter Island? I have made a reservation there for next summer based on the research I could do on the web.

Just looking for some reassurance that this was a good decision for DW, 3yo DS, and I.

Thanks!

Have not stayed there, but we love paradise point resort and spa, a little spendy but you can often find deals on expedia.

We spent 2 nights there in December last year.

It's a very nice place (and was undergoing renovations when we were there last year). Rooms are a decent size and it's in an interesting location with the naval base across the harbour (we saw an aircraft carrier and a cruise ship leaving) and yacht clubs around.

The grounds are lovely and the pool quite nice - the one big let down was the restaurant. Service at breakfast was awful - almost grudging, so much so that we skipped our included breakfast on the second day. The night time menu wasn't very kid friendly either.

But just up the street there are a large number of restaurants ranging from fancy to take away pizza and tacos, and a small convenience store. We ate one night at the Fiddler's Green Restaurant which did superb seafood and was great with kids - the place is decorated in yachting memorabilia and was a great find.

Don't bother with the TV internet in the hotel - it's expensive, very slow, and won't work on many websites.

The hotel is fairly close to Seaworld and is in a very safe location.
