Me and a friend wanna visit San Diego for 2 days after Disneyland. Just wanted to get an idea of where we should book a hotel in San Diego. We don't have any 100% plans yet, we were thinking of going to a beach, maybe the zoo....
any ideas on a good hotel for a good price in the area? Or a good location to look for a hotel that would be pretty close to all that stuff? What's the best beach in San Diego?

If you need somewhere buget wise, Pacific Beach has lot of Hotels/Motels on the ocean, a good beach lots of surfers.

If you can swing it Bahia Resort on mission bay is kind of nice. From it you can walk to Belmont Park and Mission Beach.

These two beaches are connected. Also this is a short drive from the zoo.

I agree with Skiingfast, the Pacific Beach/Mission Beach area is probably the most centrally located for what you want to do. And those two beaches are connected. However, if you want to go to those beaches, I recommend going to South Mission, south of Belmont Park/rollercoaster, as it is MUCH less crowded. Have breakfast at The Mission restaurant on Mission Blvd. The zoo is a short drive, downtown is 5 minutes down the freeway, La Jolla is just north, Sea World is literally right there. Lot's of choices.

BUT, I personally recommend going to Coronado to go to the beach. I live in San Diego and Coronado is my absolute favorite area of San Diego and has the most beautiful beach (the Travel Channel's #1 California beach!). It is HUGE and clean, the Hotel Del Coronado is right there and is nice to walk to - explore the shops downstairs, get an ice cream, or sit at the outside bar and have a drink while enjoying the view. The main street, Orange Avenue, has some fun shops and restaurants - there is an awesome candy shop, McP's is San Diego's only authentic Irish Pub, Miguel's Cocina is a great Mexican restaurant tucked in down a little "alley" across the street from the Hotel Del. If you're looking for a more upscale meal, The Boathouse is good.

San Diego is a great city. Have fun!

Thank you! :goodvibes
That is very helpful and should make planning the trip easy!

I vote for Coronado too, my daughter lives in Pacific beach and it is the typical beach scene but Coronado has beautiful white sand and the Hotel Del Coronado is a great place to have a drink and sit outside and just enjoy! So it depends on what you are looking for, upscale or just beachy!

Hotel Del Coronado. Expensive but the greatest place to be and has been voted on many travel channels as the best Socal beach bar none. Many famous people including most living presidents have stayed there. It is a historic landmark and definitely a must see. We love exploring the area and walking over to Beach N Diner and the Village Pizzeria. So laid back and so much fun. The pool there is salt water. It is literally on the beach. My kids still claim it as there most favorite place they have ever visited.
